Mattyblue
I doubt it, I would assume it was only done for a quick cash grab to fleece those worrying about missing out on a Dingles away ticket. Edited July 6, 2023 by Mattyblue

If he's already there or likely to be then he won't bother with the hassle of it. If he's falling short of his target then it wouldn't surprise me to see it introduced on the eve of the season in a cynical attempt to rake in a few more quid.

Mattyblue
Wouldn’t have thought so. Only one derby game and you get a big end to go at anyway and decent sized allocations everywhere else so there wouldn’t exactly be a clamour to sign up for it this time (and Swag will know that).
JHRover
Indeed but it is his tried and tested go-to option to raise a quick few quid through little effort, so even without the Burnley game to screw people over he can still try with some "added benefits" such as club cash, priority sales and special events. Of course not worth it to most but still worth a try. Nothing screams short term and making it up as you go along more than an annual alternation between running a membership scheme and not running one dependent on the fixtures. Mattyblue
He’s only done it a couple of times (maybe one more season I can’t recall), usually when there is panic re getting an away ticket. League 1 as he knew we’d have new grounds and small allocations - Fleetwood for example. Dingles away last time. He could still try it but he knows he wouldn’t flog many this time as he knows the only real reason folk buy it is for high demand away tickets, the rest of the ‘benefits’ are just there to make it look less than the blatant cash grab it is. MarkBRFC
He also kept it going for the 18-19 season for some reason after league one.
Mattyblue
Yes thought there was one more. Maybe he thought there’d be big pent up demand for away tickets for our triumphant return to Stoke, Hull and the like 😀
JHRover
Last season it was announced on 12th July, shortly before the start of the season and after months of season ticket sales. Clearly a desperate late bid to boost his numbers knowing the anticipation for the dingle game and possibly Blackpool / Luton too. It was done after promotion in 2018-19, presumably to 'cash in' on the feelgood factor of promotion. Can't remember whether it was in place other seasons. MarkBRFC
Just thought I would have a quick look. They also did it for 19-20 too... Don't remember it for this season as I didn't get it after league one. Edited July 6, 2023 by MarkBRFC
Mattyblue
Maybe he’ll do it then, good luck selling them this time!

I didn't mean to come across as pedantic. The fact only just over half the stand would be full if we "sold out" is a sad indictment of what's happened over the past 10 years. Certainly wasnt any kind of jibe at you
Mattyblue
For Saturday games the Blackburn End lower isn’t that far off some PL seasons bums on seats wise. But it’s all down to Swag’s cunning stage management of Ewood, shut the BEnd upper tier, shut the DEnd to home fans, empty out the stand we can’t see behind the camera by massively increasing its price… ergo the vast majority of the home support gets concertinaed into 1 and a half camera facing stands - if only Swag was as clever in actually trying to increasing crowds. It’s an interesting analogy, I was in JW upper for the Norwich game last season, it’s also frequented by a significant number of former hooligans and criminals for the local area. Flat noses, scars and stone island were all over the place, not a flask or blanket to be seen.

Mattyblue
Retired hoolies can, I suppose. I bet Cass Pennant loves a prawn sandwich or two at London Stadium these days…
Guest
Season Ticket Estimate Latest: 8,659 (+31) Notes: The estimate is based upon the total number of saleable seats to home supporters (18,210), minus the amount of unavailable (sold) seats. (+xx) represents the difference in season ticket sales from the previous estimate (usually 24 hours). 159 seats in block W01 are marked as unavailable (sold), but are not saleable due to being cordoned-off. These are therefore excluded from the season ticket estimate. 376 seats for supporters requiring ground-level font-row access are marked as unavailable (sold), but appear to be block-reserved rather than fully sold. These are therefore excluded from the season ticket estimate. A seat is marked as unavailable for up to 28 minutes when added to the basket. It is not possible to exclude these from the estimate. As a JW upper outer convert myself it's genuinely a mixture of people near where i sit and big games it's usually groups of guys in 20/30s who fill it up. Maybe just because BBE lowers fills up first and riverside is out of fashion these days. Burnley game was amazing in there but most games its dire.

MarkBRFC
Is that a price freeze on match day tickets? Was expecting them to be more to be honest.
Mattyblue
Suppose as STs were held/slightly reduced then I suppose it makes sense.
