I don’t venture to the badlands of the ‘We Did Warn You’ politics threads, but I presume it’s being commented on heavily in there…

You’d be correct. I think that’s why it’s not been on this part of the forum. It’s a difficult one, as I think it would be very quick to descend into politics, which we don’t allow on this side of the forum, but I guess it is mostly relevant….

Have any comments on the Gary Lineker or the Match of the Day presenters, pundits or commentators been banned on here for some reason?

feel sorry for the fans who watch the show regularly like myself. I won't get into the politics of it but I am not surprised that pundits and commentators of games decided to withdraw and stay loyal with Linker

Without getting into the politics, it's good to see outside the hierarchy (silence as always) the game of football and current and ex-players rally around Lineker

Solidarity. As Ian Wright said

Balls to the pompous Lineker i care not a jot what his view points are he should stick to what he's paid for.

Otherwise toddle off and get your own politics show or join a party, as for MOTD i haven't watched it since we were in the Prem but i'm damn sure it can survive without him or the boring other old boys back slapping club.

There, a comment.

He didn’t say it on MOTD, just his personal Twitter - like many other BBC employees such as Andrew Neil 🤷‍♂️

The BBC mismanagement this.

No surprised Shearer, Wright, other pundits, commentators and other presenters like Chapman and Scott stood with Linker which is right

Surely he should be able to voice his own opinions on his personal social media accounts?

No that's the issue he's paid over a million a year by the BBC to be a football pundit yet he uses his status to push his views. Doesn't matter where he pushes it rightly or wrongly millions of the BBC viewership has opposite opinions and he's being divisive therefore it bites his paymasters on the arse.

So he chooses one of the other, he isn't alone in this but a lot of others get cancelled straight away.

For his 1.3 million per year he has to sign impartiality agreements we wouldn't want him being polite on MOD then slagging off Rovers on his twitter profile would we.

I couldn't care less he has a duty to conduct himself in a balanced way out of his pundit seat just like any other high profile person. If he was a pop star then apart from his own industry he'd get pelters from everywhere else but because he's saint Gary the champagne socialist tax dodger it's ok ?

No it isn't the guy has been treading the line between activist and influencer for a long time now and hes been warned before.

One or the other Gary....oh and pay your tax bill your raging hypocrite.

On Twitter though, he’s on his own time, he should be able to say what he wants. On MOTD, if he said that, fair enough, it breaches impartiality. Otherwise, he’s paid well, but they don’t pay him to be a robot…
