I can just about understand the balancing act of playing him in league games to protect their Premier League status, even half fit, he is their best midfielder, but playing him in a meaningless cup game was madness The league cup is not meaningless. Unless you're a super rich 'elite club' of course. Both these teams should be going full noise to win this game and get through to the next round. I see villa gave away a goal by 'playing the right way'. Quote

Maybe I should have wrote "meaningless in comparison to the £100M+ on offer for remaining in the Premier League for another season" They started an injured player for the 2nd time in a few days, and look to have worsened his injury. It was a terrible decision Edited October 30, 2024 by KentExile 1 Quote

Make the Euro competitions two leg straight knock outs from the beginning and you'll get rid of the fixture congestion. 3 1 Quote

My argument is that it was a ridiculous decision to play an already injured player in that league cup game. That doesn't mean that they had to throw in the towel for tonight's game. I didn't say that they had to play their U14 reserves, and start the game by smashing the ball into their own goal Edited October 30, 2024 by KentExile 1 Quote

I am saying it happens, and on a regular occasion. Usually on the insistance of the player. Quote

roversfan99 Posted October 30, 2024 Posted October 30, 2024 Probably because no one really cares about those internationals and even the players do not seem to want to play them, hence mass withdrawls and players publically criticising them, eg De Bruyne. 2 Quote

I suspect that no one is yet sure whether what he has are natural growing pains or something more serious. This post did not age well. Quote

only2garners Posted November 2, 2024 Posted November 2, 2024 Apparently Adam was at Ewood today. We could have done with him, even if he could only stand in the middle and pass the ball around. Quote

Tyrone Shoelaces Posted November 28, 2024 Posted November 28, 2024 There’s a story on the BBC site that Arsenal are in talks with Palace with a view to buying Adam for £ 54 million.. Have we got a sell on ? Quote

Have we got a sell on ? I believe so. I've heard anywhere between 15 & 20% of any profit, which would mean £5M or £6M reasons for Venkys not to send any more money over in January https://www.caughtoffside.com/2024/11/27/adam-wharton-transfer-arsenal/ Man City & Liverpool also interested according story cited by the BBC. Surely Palace wouldn't sell until the end of the season? Get him fit and playing at his best again and then they would be looking at a much higher fee with those teams interested and a bidding war?
