Josh lives in the Ribble Valley and given that number of players and club staff lives within that area he will see them and speak to them. I sometimes spend time at different food outlets in that area(mainly pre covid) and he will plenty of them out and about. 

People asked question and players will give honest answers to Rovers fans and people. 

Paul was open and honest to post that conservation.

why are dropping Szmodics when he was the best player on the pitch yesterday? 

He may well come across them. I am just struggling to grasp that if Josh merely says that Adam Wharton is a good player to them for example, that those players then respond to essentially a stranger by going into detail listing examples of a lack of professionalism off the pitch. And on the off chance that they do, they themselves are being unprofessional by happily telling randomers such information!

Personally, due to our lack of pace at full-back. I would play three center-halfs and two wing-backs, three central defenders, and two central strikers. With the players we  have for the Huddersfield game, I would go :

I’ll talk to anyone, I won’t criticise my work colleagues to a stranger though - and that’s without the likelihood of it ending up on the internet.

Is Josh a stranger to these people tho? that the question. He clearly see them enough to be someone they know but not a close friend

No, the question is, is it professional to talk about a work colleague with someone who ‘for all intents and purposes’ is a stranger to you.

The answer is no it is not - even more so when you’re employed in such a ‘public’ industry.

Hopefully this ends what really is a silly discussion, but to be clear there’s there’s two different conversations here. There’s the first question which was “which of the players are you bumping into regularly?” which I answered. Then a secondary question of “who is telling you these things?”. 

Obviously, people that you simply bump into on the street aren’t gossiping about the inner workings of the club. They’re examples for question one: players that you see often because they live/socialise locally. 

Then there are some players (and coaches/scouts/recruitment/medical staff/family members) who will happily tell me (and plenty of others) some more ‘secret’/private/detailed things. 

I’d rather not going into the specifics of who's in the second group because I wouldn’t want to upset any more personable friendships. However as an example of group one, today I saw Ben Brereton getting his haircut at Form in Clitheroe after training and I’ve just driven past JDT in Whalley.

Mick Ended up living in a council house in Darwen. I used to see his partner quite a lot in Darwen leisure centre at the gym. It was very sad how he lost his life on the Grane Road.

I’m from Whalley and live in the Ribble Valley, within a few miles of Brockhall and get out and about, I rarely see any Rovers players.

No, but funnily enough I did see Brereton having something to eat in Salvatores during his early days at Ewood. I now live very close to Alex Neil and have seen him walking his dog, once in two years. He didn’t let in about any club or player matters 😂

My brother (who was a traffic cop at the time) was first on the scene after the accident. Without going into too much detail Mick passed away in the firm knowledge that he was much loved by Rovers fans. 😢

Captained the 1975 Championship team and ran a cracking little sports shop in Brownhill, I remember buying my kangaroo skin Patrick’s Kevin Keegan’s from him, was so exciting.
