The fact Is most of us on here knew he was an incredible talent but he hadnt even been called up to an England under 21 squad whilst with us ...it took a move to the premier league for him to even get that

He was sold to the first bidder as quickly as possible.

Funnily enough that transfer wasn't bungled by the club secretary.

I'm not saying he isn't worth that much but as a championship club  no way on earth we get 36 million for him.

He hadn't even had an England under 21 cap whilst here 

I'm not defending the club, I wouldn't have sold him in January but there is no evidence whatsoever that someone would have paid us double what we got ,we could have looked for similar money that Scott got like Matty blue suggested which was £25 million

Shearer, on a recent-ish podcast, spoke about Wharton. Shearer said he’d been visiting Brockhall just after AW was sold and that ‘everyone’ at Rovers i.e. the people who agreed his sale, knew that AW had been sold on the cheap ‘for obvious reasons’.

Which is standard how transfers fees are paid. 

It will be towards covering the debt meaning we meet FFP requirements.

Very easy for us all sit us and say this figure or that figure, I think one of the biggest problem we didn't get more money was some PL teams couldn't spend due to PL FFP rules like Newcastle who were deffo interested as Dan Ashworth was at a number of our games watching him personally or Man Utd who were to create auction for the player. Palace got the money they wanted him and he has been very good for them

Not our problem that PL clubs have FFP issues. 

It was a piss poor deal for BRFC purely so the club can clean up after its disgraceful owners - and it’s fairly obvious that those in the game know it.

It is piss poor we are still losing millions after millions after so long of their ownership, we have lack of commercial nous at the club with no plan to grow the commercial side like better financial deal for our shirt sponsor or sponsors around the ground is pathetic.

Like I said PL FFP issues aren’t the problem of the selling club, he had a long contract and therefore he stays until we get given a serious bid - we took the crap (FFP impacted or otherwise) money on offer because the owners can’t fund their business and we had to cash in immediately to keep the lights on.

Rovers accepted the first firm offer that was made. The bid came in on the Monday morning and was accepted. Adam was told about it and that he wouldn't be playing that night against Wrexham. It was decided in the afternoon that he could be on the bench but wouldn't be coming on. The next morning he was in London.

There was no negotiations. Palace played a blinder and knew about our precarious financial predicament of the owners making and that we were desperate for money. Palace had us over.

I'll ask again what qualifies the owners, Waggott or Suhail to put a price on any player.

Bayern Munich are ready to move for Crystal Palace’s shining star Adam Wharton - and try to get him at the second attempt.

 

The German giants are desperate for the midfield maestro after missing out on him when the Eagles swooped on Blackburn Rovers for him in January.

 

Bayern were working on a deal to sign Wharton but take 18 months to develop him, but Palace saw them off along with Chelsea who had a similar plan.

 

However Munich are keen to move for Wharton now although he would cost them around £60 million already, an expensive mistake on their part.

 

Top experts think Wharton will play in the Champions League sooner rather than later and Palace could come under pressure to keep him in the summer.

 

The Eagles have a host of talent in their squad and the likes of Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze have been linked with moves, but Wharton may attract a bid quicker.

 

Palace are under siege off the field too with director of football Dougie Freedman wanted by Newcastle United.

 

Freedman masterminded deals for all of the Palace captures and is happy at the club. However if they sell too many in the next window it could lead to a change of heart.

 

Meanwhile Bayern are also looking at Everton midfielder Amadou Onana but would have to find £50 million to land him.

We couldn't get more because we were desperate to sell him then--immediately because, thanks to our owners, we had bills we couldn't pay.

How pathetic is that? A real jewel, when will we see another like him? Tragic, not business as usual.

15% is the final insult! So another £6m ish on top of the original £18. That’s £24m received for a player apparently worth £60m a mere 6 months after we sold him

Players like Wharton come along once in a generation at clubs like Rovers. Even the dogs in the street knew he was worth way more than what we accepted from Palace. The Chicken Chokers strike again.

But if Adam Wharton had stayed at the Rovers, he would not have been getting bids of £60 million.

We all know we should have sold him for more but couldn't due to our terrible owners, however the 15% on any profit is the final insult. 

Best mate is a Qpr fan and I'm certain they have a 20-25% sell on for Eze, however it is for the whole fee rather than profit. Big, big difference, especially when you consider we gave Newcastle a 40% sell on with Adam Armstrong. 

We had our pants pulled down repeatedly with the AW deal. The only light it looks good in is against our own record of repeatedly letting players walk for free.

Wow - 4 months on and he’s being valued at 60m?! 

Doubt palace let him leave this summer, they could get a lot more for him next summer IF he has another blinder…I suppose the IF is a big factor.

How many high quality players are bought and then sold on a few months later?
