Luton yesterday plonked a big lad up top second half to occupy our lads because he was the outlet when we were pressing. Really simple but effective stuff. From what I read on here it’s more a case of ‘why do something with three passes when we can do nothing with six’

More importantly the lad shoots ! Sadly it's almost the only thing he does, shooting almost constantly. I'd prefer a happy medium between that and our current approach.

His finishing is poor too - he missed another sitter at Leicester. Squad player at best. Thomas and Hedges are similar. Crap when starting a game, OK for 30 minutes off the bench. What I found frustrating following the Armstrong sale was that we started to play counter football compared to the possession football when we had him. Imagine how useful Armstrong would have been in the season after he left. The lad could run!

And we haven't improved. Nor do I think your seat faces the pitch if you have found us entertaining this season! We have regressed as the season has come to its conclusion as we did last year. Apparently 5 wins in 20 v 5 wins in 20. We have got worse as the season has gone on, hence 0 wins in 8. We had a style last season, counter attacking and using a back 3. Having a style doesn't make it automatically progression.
ElTwis
Two points, both unconnected with the game yesterday: 1. Absolutely agree re sponsor, my young kids have started pointing out any time they see a Totally Wicked store/ad which I understand is the whole point but the club really need to consider the morals around what this encouraging in kids 2. "Kim Jong SteB" is honestly the funniest thing I've ever seen on this site

All that said I'd be a lot more convinced by their intentions if they potted Waggott and Broughton and appointed a competent CEO and an actual experienced DOF should they decide to continue with that model. How can you still defend them if you think that we have staff who potentially purposely sabotaged transfers and they still haven't bothered to sack them? roverblue
We have the makings of a decent squad all the way up until the attacking players as performances and results have shown this season. Unfortunately its the most expensive and tricky place to find players which gives me no hope that the club will find anyone decent over the summer. Brereton, Dolan and Hedges occupied the 3 attacking spots last night. All 3 need to be replaced with first choice quality signings for us to do anything more than we have this season. The best bet is probably the loan market but to get anyone good they need to have those deals warmed up and ready to go now for the window opening. If we arent going to invest then they should just let JDT leave as another season of this tripe will finish me off as a season ticket holder. The current squad has been painful to watch operate his style and given me very little to cheer for at ewood all season.
Sweaty Gussets
What was clear from the opening 45 minutes yesterday is that even the best teams in the league can't cope with us when we pass the ball quickly. Our movement is excellent and drags the opposition where they don't wat to go. We also smothered Luton when they had the ball, which resulted in them giving us the ball back. As Mark Robins also said about us, we are the best pressing team in the league. If only we had presence in the opposition's box. I wasn't keen on JDT before Christmas, I though the football sterile. But we've made huge advances since then. JDT leaving would be a disaster.

Whilst they've spent a decent amount in League 1 relative to the rest of the division, you're comparing to a pretty low average. I doubt they spent more than we did during our L1 season when taking wages into account as well. Not sure where the idea comes from that Town will spend big. McKenna has been saying the opposite - consolidate first, build slowly, start challenging the top six in a couple of seasons.

The irony and problem is, whilst we may well look like we've made huge advances on the pitch as we look more cohesive and like we can cause problems, we've actually regressed hugely in terms of the results since Christmas. I worry this may indicate JDT's chosen style doesn't actually work for us. Although it may indeed be primarily down to the lack of appropriate personnel in the box. Same personnel we had when we were 2nd in the league though.

ruggles1995
Can we get this trending in time for Millwall - Hayden Carter number 9, up top. Take a leaf out of Big Sams book and play someone with presence up their. Hes shown more in the box than anyone else with 1 header. Thomas Dack Szmodics Carter Get it in the final 3rd, play off him. They'll have more season ticket income than us for sure but I hardly think that's enough to make them big hitters financially in this league. Ticket income isn't enough to make a huge difference at this level unless you're selling epic numbers at a fairly high price, like only a few teams here do. 10 minutes ago, Sweaty Gussets said: “Should Ipswich get promotion we know they're going to spend big; we know they've got the resources to do that," Palmer told Football League World.
