We also had to chase the game. We are good when we play direct, we’ve always been good when we do that. We should just do that more. 3 Quote

Also praise to JDT for his changes which actually worked 2nd half. Now, when does the transfer window open? You can't put a bottled season to bed by not bottling one half of football. 6 Quote
Cherry Blue Posted May 8, 2023 Posted May 8, 2023 Sad end to season to miss playoffs on goal difference but what a performance by JDT. Give the man a new contract. 4 Quote

They don't get a pass because they decided to play once it didn't matter despite having it in their own hands until about a week ago. We have a goal difference of -2 - that's what ended our season. 4 Quote

Well, no it doesn't, funny how how we only came to life when we KNEW it was too late ie when Sunderland were 2 then 3 goals up.after showing absolutely nothing in the previous EIGHT games before that. Second season in a row as well. Absolutely Sickening. This set of players haven't got it and there must be massive question marks about the manager as well but he probably deserves another chance at it. 2 Quote
BankEnd Rover Posted May 8, 2023 Posted May 8, 2023 Dolan again the reason why he should be starting on the bench. Seems to play a lot better when coming on. 2 Quote
Crozzy Posted May 8, 2023 Posted May 8, 2023 For everyone saying it didn’t matter…. They players surely didn’t know Sunderland score while they’re playing? At half time wasn’t it 0-0? Heartbreaking we’ve missed out on goal difference Quote

I could just as easily see us put in a swashbuckling first half performance and be 3-0 up at the break. We'd all be sitting there scratching our heads and wondering what could have been. One thing I'm sure of though, is come the final whistle, we won't be in the playoffs. Think I pretty much called that result. Just that the swashbuckling part didn't happen until Sunderland were making the playoffs impossible 2 Quote

NeilInBristol Posted May 8, 2023 Posted May 8, 2023 Sunderland finished 5th last season in League 1. Wow. Who is their manager. He has turned things around. 3 Quote

Overall it's an good season he now knows the team and he did put things right second half... we ar`nt far off challenging for promotion imo,jdt just needs backing in the transfer market, thats a big ask considering who is running the club, though im`e sure if he does`nt get the backing he`ll be off 2 Quote

I'm hoping this will be an invaluable lesson for this squad and we kick on next season.. The team pinched higher than expected, we keep the youngsters add some quality and we will be good! Honestly if we had a goal scoring #9 we'd be comfortably in the playoffs. If we had a quality wide player to go with it we'd be pushing for automatic promotion. 6 Quote

Mercer Posted May 8, 2023 Posted May 8, 2023 (edited) Gutted - I feel horrible. One man is to blame and that is our manager who over the last 10 games has got his team selections and tactics so, so wrong. Some of our first half performances have been woeful due to JDT screwing up his selections and tactics. IMO, the brutal truth is JDT hasn't got what it takes when it comes down to the real business. Seems like Dack is off and we need many more to follow him - too many with no bottle and simply not good enough. Edited May 8, 2023 by Mercer 6 Quote

Millwall shat the bed and they were clearly very nervous. Why do you feel the need to take all the credit away from our performance? We mullered them. It was the same calibre of performance we've been putting in for months - Ben Brereton-Diaz decided to show up and we won - fancy that, a goalscorer making the difference. 1 Quote
