Hopefully he's convincing enough to stop the Batth transfer and allow those funds to be allocated elsewhere.

I believe Phillips will stay to cover batth, hyam and Carter and we will loan out Barnes and sell S.wharton

Well... An improvement on last season's first game against them. 👍

has vale done any running or moving yet???!!!!!

First half no. Second half he put himself about a bit and did ok. Might have bulked up a bit, looked slightly less lightweight than usual. Still don’t think he’s anywhere near good enough

Phillips and Pickering the stand outs according to Sharpe and Jackson.

Not sure Ash can be held back much longer

we are stacked at centre back.phillips and carter in competition to partner hyam, with wharton and barnes as back up,pickering can play centre back as well,iv`e no idea why we need batthh tbh

Yeah a good season for us this season and we could be looking at some healthy fees next summer.

I agree, he'd be third choice for me behind Hyam and Carter.

Great to here Philips seems to be putting in a decent display even if it's only pre season.

Would much prefer him to break through and not spend funds on a 30 year old.  If he does step up Hyam, Carter, S Wharton and Ash would be plenty of cover. Loan out Barnes knowing Pickering can cover in a pinch.

S Wharton had a dismal season last year, but the year before proved he can play well at this level. I’d be happy with those four and using funds elsewhere

Game of opinions I suppose but thought Markanday looked pretty decent. Vale improved second half and was putting himself about more. Second of the first game though we looked decent but no one to put the ball in the net. Philips looked good as did Britton. Gallagher still a step behind every time.....

So, we have a good defence, with cover for injuries. A good midfield, with cover for injuries. Poor or untried forwards. Where should we invest ?

While I'm sure the transfer window is far from over, let's not forget that we've got two new attackers that aren't playing today before we start panicking about lack of goals.
