I thought he did ok at Reading until points deduction happened but I do find it strange appointment for Sheff Weds to make, I think they are better appointments they could have approach to take over whether its Dean Smith, Sabri Lamouchi or Ryan Lowe Quote
roversfan99 Posted June 24, 2023 Posted June 24, 2023 "Willing to work under strict budget" often is an indicator of a manager not otherwise particularly rated. Reminds me of when we appointed Owen Coyle. 2 Quote
Norbert Rassragr Posted June 24, 2023 Posted June 24, 2023 Ince? Hahaha!!! He did well for a couple of months last season, then had the mother of all Mowbrayesque death spirals. How he gets any football league job is beyond me. 2 Quote

It's highly annoying that they beat us comfortably 3-0 at their place early on in the season. Paul "bus driver" Ince... 🤦♂️ It was the first sign under Tomasson that we were capable of imploding after going a goal down. If we stamp that nonsense out this season, we give ourselves a chance. Ossydave Posted June 24, 2023 Posted June 24, 2023 From what I've seen their fans would be absolutely distraught if he got it. On one hand I think they have delusions of grandeur at Hillsborough (the fans), but I think they can do better. 1 Quote
Ossydave Posted June 24, 2023 Posted June 24, 2023 They're genuinely (I think) suggesting Potter on socials 🤣🤣🤣 1 Quote
bazza Posted June 24, 2023 Posted June 24, 2023 Potter would be a hell of a lot better than Ince 1 Quote
Ianrally Posted June 24, 2023 Posted June 24, 2023 The odd thing is what caused Darren Moore’s departure. Quote

Would have thought he would be one of the first names on the list for Mid/Lower Prem teams? The mess at Chelsea seemed to be more a case of a ridiculous scattergun approach to transfers, and no firepower, neither of which were Potters fault in my opinion (Director of Football Model/the owner playing real life Football Manager 2023) Edited June 24, 2023 by KentExile Quote

roversfan99 Posted June 28, 2023 Posted June 28, 2023 Leicester seemingly in talks with Harry Winks and have also been linked in the last couple of days with Zack Steffen, Conor Coady, Tom Cairney and Joel Piroe so they could be strong if they get some of them. 1 Quote
chaddyrovers Posted June 28, 2023 Posted June 28, 2023 Huge rebuilding job at Leicester, Southampton and Leeds with all 3 squad facing massively overhauling and revamping. Leeds haven't even announce the new head coach yet Quote
roverandout Posted June 28, 2023 Posted June 28, 2023 Both Sheffield clubs annoy me. Wednesday have won alot more than united but neither are big clubs Quote

(Obviously Sheffield a far bigger place than Blackburn, same goes for their catchment area, before anyone says). 2 Quote
Mattyblue Posted June 28, 2023 Posted June 28, 2023 Why would you be annoyed by Sheffield Wednesday? Quote
Upside Down Posted June 29, 2023 Posted June 29, 2023 I wouldn't say either of them annoy me in any way, but I agree with roverandout that they aren't "big" clubs. They're on par with us at the very best. 2 Quote
KentExile Posted June 29, 2023 Posted June 29, 2023 (edited) Talk of "big" clubs does get silly, everyone has their own definition, normally based upon whatever metric makes someone's own club bigger. Trophies won (usually with an arbitrary cut off date point, but not if you are a Rover because most of ours were won in the early days of football), Crowd size (so that fans of clubs in big cities, with huge catchment areas or even Plymouth Argyle can claim they are huge because their crowds of 15000 or 16000 in league 1, conveniently ignoring that they are the only club for about a gazillion miles in any direction and don't have a host of Premier League clubs on their doorstep, or Current standing (for me, history has to count for something, Brentford, Brighton etc are good, well run clubs, but they are certainly not big clubs) Edited June 29, 2023 by KentExile 4 Quote

I guess you still get the debate as to what defines success, is it purely trophies won or does, for example, qualifying for Europe count? You also get the discussion around whether success from ‘before your time’ counts or not eg. ‘ Sure your club’s won x FA cups but they were all before (insert world event here)’ Edited June 29, 2023 by wilsdenrover 1 Quote
