To be fair to Pep, especially last season he had started to do things that moved away from certain principles. He had Haaland up front, he essentially had (and still has) played 4 centre backs and Ederson often goes long to Haaland.

Their squad just has really aged and so many key parts are over the hill. De Bruyne is done for, Gundogan was when he left and it was strange that they signed him back, Walker lost his speed and was never the best defender, Stones' body seems to be unable to sustain itself at the top level and Bernardo Silva also is well past his best. The injury to Rodri was a killer too.

Speaking of Man U Ratcliffe is at it again; Guardian: Man U to close staff canteen

Top brass at the club are nixing free meals for staff to save £1million per year. What a horrible man he is. How this will get them winning the league again is beyond me

Peanuts isn't it. Pretty insulting to the staff when you see some of the dross they've spent tens of millions on

200 job losses, but £380k p/w for Casemiro who can't run any more.

Penny wise, pound foolish.

Just highlighted how much of a mess United are structural, no transfer policy stick, a head coach who formation and style doesn't suit the players he has and their number 9 Hojlund doesn't suit.

When you are axing free hot meals for staff and academy players, its show a fucking mess it is there.

I wonder if Ratcliffe wishes he never bought into United now?

The mistakes just keep coming and sacking some staff who have been there for 30 years plus just show how little regards the management team have for these people.

They decide to back Ten Hag and give him a new contract but supposedly Ratcliffe was against it so why didn't he stop it, or why spend so much money on signings Ten Hag wanted to sacked him months later, shit planning.

Why did Ratcliffe think Dan Ashworth was transfer guru when it was the opposite, he is more like a Football head of operations bring in scouts or data analysts to do the scouting for the payers.

I also think its a possibly that they will Amorim before the season is over and look to overhaul the head coach management team and can United afford to bring in players that suit Amorim's Formation and style.

Big decisions ahead for United.

They were spending one million a year on free food for all and sundry. Let thst sink in.

They've lost money the last five years. The amount of waste and dead wood in large organisations makes your hair curl. I'm not suprised they are rationalising everything.

-----

I was reading that the minimum spend in transfers and wages over the last six seasons, for promoted teams in the PL that stayed up, was around 130 million.

The only exception being Brentford who spent around 60 million. Anyone spending less went down.

Sadly it looks like what goes up, must come down.

True enough, but that pales into insignificance when considering how much goes on player wages.

That's also less than it cost to bring in, then dismiss Dan Ashworth 5 months later.

Its still 20k a week. That is an expensive canteen!

When you are paying Harry Maguire 10 million a year its no wonder that none of them ever want to leave.

----

I saw that our directors are pulling 1 million out of Rovers each year. It's hard to fathom the stupidity behind these decisions.

Pocket change to United that saving. I think its a appalling decision by Ratcliffe.

Maybe, they should look at waste they have spend on poor transfers and wages they spend on players

It's 5 pounds a week per employee. Is that really expensive? not for me. They could have always kept the canteen open but asked the employee to paid half towards their food. What wrong with that option?

No surprise that Suhail onlyonejackwalker supports the idea of robbing from the poor to give to the rich.

They gave Ten Hag a one year extension in the summer, based on winning a one off cup game, then sacked him a few months later - £15m down the drain. Then spend £10m+ hiring Amorim who has been just as much a dismal failure.

Ratcliffe is responsible as the leader of football operations. Any responsibility taken from him for this collosal waste of money? Lol no, just make the poors suffer some more.

Two rights dont make a wrong.

Plus there is a lot more jeopardy with player purchases and management recruits.

It's £ 5.00 a week DE. Like Chaddy says its a pathetically small sum of money. So why is everyone up in arms about it?

Hirst preferred to Sammie.

Every time I see Hurst play I think "how the hell was he so bad for us?"

He seems to score almost every time I see him play!

They're all bad decisions, to be fair.

It's a bit like spending £50 and saving £20.
