"I really like to play here. I like the players and fans, the club in general, and the league. I would like to stay."

Tronstad on pre-match media duty today.

Good news, if we were a functioning club worthy of the name.

Bad news for Gestede and co, because there goes the excuse they were hoping to rely on that Tronstad has family and roots abroad and that he's set on a move back to the continent. It was obvious in the 3 stooges' interview that they were starting to prepare for that being trotted out as the excuse for him 'refusing' to sign a new deal. Looks like they'll just have to resort to the old 'greedy player/agent' one instead.

There should have been unrelenting uproar for the last 15 years.

Outside of a few it's the mildest fanbase in England i'm afraid, almost resigned to living in a permanent void as punishment for the previous good times.

He wants a new deal; he's been one of our best players since he joined; we lost form as soon as he was out of the team. And our oh so competent execs are "trying" to resign players. Probably means we'll sell him.

No excuse, just get it done.

Unbelievable that some posters on the LT are questioning if Ismael would want a "better progressing midfielder", do they even watch games.

A well timed bump to this thread - a no brainer to tie this lad down

He's explicitly stating he wants to stay. Since he's arguably our best player the Club should be saying "thank God for that--sign here."

But no reaction at all. I'm convinced we are going to lose our best players to "rebuild". Since they're out of contract and we won't even get the money to keep the lights on, what the hell is the point of that?

It can only be to cut the wages bill---because there's no money from Pune.

This is suicide. Way past time to bring this farce to an end.

I heard this from one of the founders of 4000 Holes..( season ticket holder for some 30 years)

" It was making me so fucking angry. I had to give it up."

Exactly.

There was ‘uproar’ in 1960 after the cup final ticket debacle - fans walked away.

Uproar in 2012 - fans walked away.

Uproar in 2025 - fans will walk away.

That is how Rovers supporters have always shown dissent and ‘protest’, not by a load of chanting and messages on bedsheets whilst still handing over their cash.

Yep the Rovers fanbase speaks with its pocket, always has and always will and it's something John Williams took a while to understand but once he did his methods worked.

These lot have never got to grips with that.

Much deserved award for Sondre.

I voted for Brittain who I think has been outstanding this season.

But there is 5 or 6 players who deserved to be in the top 3

Tronsdtat for me as he has played most games and of a constantly high std, if Brittain had a played a few more games then it may have been different

It shows how important he is to the team that we start performing again once he’s achieved match fitness. Like one of two other players this season he was rushed back before he was ready.  Him and Baath are the two we missed the most.

He is for me, quite rightly the player of the season. It is no coincidence, how much we struggled, when he was either out injured or not 100% fit. His two goals V Millwall were a bonus, as for me, it’s his covering qualities and protection he offers the back 4 that are his real strengths. I can’t think of a better player in the Championship, who does that, although I do concede, my Rovers bias.

Thats the problem when you are over relient on your starting XI. Same could be said of Travis and Britain

It is quite simple, if he was a yard or two quicker he would playing a lot higher up the pyramid.

One of those players who rarely dips below 7/10 performance-wise. An absolute steal on a free transfer. That kind of consistency is absolutely vital in the centre of the park. You can get away with a striker or a winger having a very poor game, but if it happens in the middle of the pitch then it's going to cause some major problems. He and Travis work very well together, and it gives the team a solid foundation to work from.

We need far better backup than the likes of Buckley or JRC, though. We can't afford to have our form collapse every time Tronstad is unavailable or unfit.
