Girona are a very good side, easy on the eye and didn't really get of second gear if we're honest; at least a couple of levels above us. Their style is exactly what we should aspire to based on how JDT wants us to play.

They'e the 10th best side in the best league in one of the top 3 or 4 footballing countries in Europe, after all.

A good work out for us though, but unless we add depth and quality, we're going to struggle over the course of a season

Didn't see the game but from the sound if it their wingers made the difference in an attacking sense.  That lack of pace out wide for us is as much an issue as the striker.

Any news on Gallagher and hedges? We desperately need something from the bench next week, even if it means them coming into first 11, we'd then have dolan or markanday coming on from the bench

Jdt gave update in his Rovers tv interview. Gally injured, expected back after Walsall game. Hedges fit enough, but not risked

A midfield trio of tronstad Wharton and siggy sounds like the way to go.  With Travis and Szmodics off the bench.  Midfield would be looking a lot stronger.  If only we had a forward

Sigurdsson played on the winger or false 9. He is not centre midfield.

The midfield we should be playing is Szmodics, Tronstad and Wharton. Buckley and Travis on bench.

As I’ve said elsewhere on this thread (corroborated by others that have met him) he was perfectly affable and happy to discuss the event, what we’d done, how we thought fan engagement would benefit as a result & I would like to think that when he saw the attendance figure a lightbulb went off in his head…

I was speaking recently to a former member of this parish, a well respected former member and he was telling me that despite still having some misgivings on pricing and fan engagement, Waggott is actually doing a really good keeping things ticking along without all the drama that has dominated over the past decade or more.

He has a point and it certainly gave me food for thought, but I'm still convinced we could do better, but that is in the hands of the owners and they're not interested in doing better.

I see it the other way from said esteemed former parishioner; if the club was ticking over nicely, ST sales booming, good sponsorship deals, a well engaged fanbase then he’d be perfectly fine as an affable figurehead overseeing a happy ship, he obviously is well liked by the staff down there and his brew time with individual fans is legendary.

However, we desperately need a driven CEO that will shake the commercial operation up as it has been going through the motions for a long, long time.

Of course such a driven individual has always been in the gift of the owners, and as we know they aren’t interested in the slightest.

We don't need someone just to keep things ticking along.

We need someone with the wherewithall to grow the club.

If you think about the snakes involved before Waggott, ticking along is probably the best we can hope for sadly and only promotion will grow the club under these owners.

Szmodics is one of the first names on the teamsheet for mine.

This is how i see it with Waggot he is actually good at what he does and what he is capable of.

He's a water treading penny pinching fanbase squeezing CEO that's what he is and that is what his expertise is. He has no experience or pedigree for anything else so expecting anything else is futile.

We know where the root problem is and yes he could and should do better on numerous things but he won't and probably doesn't have the gumption or balls for it. Too easy to just plod on don't rock the boat and collect the wages.

He was a perfect fit to go alongside the Mowbray journey to nowhere and now it seems that is actually all this lot really want for the club.

I thought Tronstad looked good. He'll put his foot in, shows for the ball and has a good first touch, covers the ground reasonably well and when he gets the ball he only take one or two touches whilst looking for a quick forward pass.

I think we've signed a decent quality midfielder who will be an unsung hero.

I was worried about him at first though. I was watching on a twitter stream and I loudly exclaimed at how bloody slow he was as I saw him running back during a Girona breakaway. He looked like a hunchback running in quicksand... Then I realised it was Harry Pickering 😂

Just watched the replay and after the posts I saw on here regarding Dolan being no good I kept a closer eye on him than usual and I gotta say I thought he played just fine, couple of mistakes but nothing deserving of the criticism I saw on here.

The frustration is coming from the multiple step overs and twirls without ever really getting anywhere. It looks a complete waste of energy and stood out on the day as a total contrast to Girona's wingers who were so simply effective with their directness and pace. He also uses his teammates runs as a decoy too often without gaining much ground himself... leaving them equally frustrated. Overall he's a frustrating watch and I'd imagine at times frustrating to play with. I think you can guess the word I'd use to best describe Dolan...

Sh*t

He's incredibly slow too, Armstrong was small but fast. Dolan is just small.
