AspRover Posted August 7, 2023 Posted August 7, 2023 England are losing this. I always used to think Ellen white was a bit clumsy, but the one thing we've really missed this tournament is a strong centre forward. If we had a player like Oshoala or Popp up front we'd win this tournament. Absolutely brain-dead from James, did she seriously think she'd get away with that? 1 Quote

It'll be a travesty if they lose. We are absolutely dominating the ball, the big ladies of Nigeria are dominating the physical side of the game. With Russo onfield we lacked a competent finisher nevermind that her hold up play is good. James, you stupid stupid girl. Just fuck off and have a cry. Edited August 7, 2023 by AllRoverAsia 1 Quote

Ellen was a goal scoring threat all the time and what we now lack. That and real pace. 1 Quote
jim mk2 Posted August 7, 2023 Posted August 7, 2023 It's like watching Luton v Rovers last season - one team, fast, big, strong, physical and organised, the other skilful but easily knocked off the ball and prone to mistakes 2 Quote
roverandout Posted August 7, 2023 Posted August 7, 2023 This is England Argentina 98 all over again Quote
47er Posted August 7, 2023 Posted August 7, 2023 The not-given penalty was interesting. Apparently the decision was contact not a shove. But the replay clearly showed the Nigerian defender hanging on to her opponent's shirt for ages, as soon as the English player made her run in fact. So is shirt-pulling in the penalty area now officially OK? 1 Quote
AspRover Posted August 7, 2023 Posted August 7, 2023 One substitute used... The players look exhausted even without a player down. Surely we've got players on the bench who could come on and run their hearts out for fifteen minutes. Quote

bazza Posted August 7, 2023 Posted August 7, 2023 Nigeria have been the better team throughout the whole game 2 Quote
Backroom Silas Posted August 7, 2023 Backroom Posted August 7, 2023 We get to penalties here and, in theory, our players should be more confident having played on the bigger stages more often (I.e.80k at Wembley and the Women's Premier League). We should have the cooler, calmer heads.....in theory. Would be a get out of jail card played mind. 1 Quote
philipl Posted August 7, 2023 Posted August 7, 2023 Just as well Harry Leonard doesn't play for Nigeria ladies. The chances they have had from around where he buried it on Saturday! Quote
AspRover Posted August 7, 2023 Posted August 7, 2023 Earps has a decent record Vs penalties too, but honestly I can't see us getting away with this one. Might just be nerves on my part but we're second best here and the players know it. Gets in your head. Quote
roverandout Posted August 7, 2023 Posted August 7, 2023 Should be a red for the Nigerian player. She elbowed daly then had the temerity to pretend she hit her head Quote
AspRover Posted August 7, 2023 Posted August 7, 2023 I hate 120 min penalty taker subs, never seems to work. Quote
Backroom Silas Posted August 7, 2023 Backroom Posted August 7, 2023 Here we go! 🤞🤞 England in a penalty shootout. What could possibly go wrong. 3 Quote
