Totally agree, 21/22 was terrible losing to morecambe in the league cup first round and Wigan in the fa cup and Mowbray not giving two shits

Don't forget the 7-0 pasting at home to Fulham that he also didn't give a fuck about.

What a dick head that bloke is.

Personally I would still play the same "spine" as we need to settle into a way of playing and everyone is fresh after the summer. Also as we have no world cup we have nothing like as many mid week game (only three mid week Championship games between now and end of November).

                         Pears

Brittain.    Hyam.  Wharton.  Pickering

        Travis    Buckley.  Wharton

Markanday   Leonard.   Szmodics

Wasn't that horror show our biggest EVER home defeat...felt completely fooking numb that night.

3-0 tonight.

It was.

No apology, not even any kind of acknowledgement from that miserable tosser. At any normal club he'd have been fired before the final whistle.

Be a good challenge for the younger players this game. Hopefully they will play with confidence and bag a hatfull.

Then we turned it round, went on a barnstorming run and flew into the top 2. That’s football.

His cup record however can’t be defended. Shocking from day one.

(Will the bloke  have to have retired to his lemon drizzle before this place stops going on about him everyday, by the way? 😁)

Obviously reverts back to Mowbray and the obsession people have with him.

His cup record was strange. It wasnt even as if he always played weak sides in the cup but our record was really poor. Tomasson especially in the League Cup made wholesale changes in every round, it was a bit disappointing v Forest as we had made good progress and had got quite far, was that a quarter final?

The season before, we lost to Morecambe and we only changed 2 or 3. Not too dissimilar to Wigan away in the FA Cup where we didnt make many changes but one was Pears.

I agree with JDT, we have a more threadbare squad than last season at the moment, he's resting Travis who took a few knocks at the weekend but should be fit for Saturday and a few others.

Yep, playing a League 2 side at home in the first round and needing to get game time into important squad players like the Whartons, Ennis, Hedges, Brittain and Buckley as well as an opportunity to give a couple of kids a go, makes sense knowing we should win comfortably anyway. Hopefully if we get a few rounds in and get a Prem side then we can go stronger but for now, makes total sense.

Mowbray tended to play a second 11 in the cups and JDT also tends to play a second 11 in the cups. The difference is the first team is now run as meritocracy. If a player plays well in cup matches he now knows he is in serious contention for a first team league start. Under Mowbray too much of the first 11 in the league were always guaranteed starters. He rewarded loyalty to himself above anything. He was also too scared of upsetting the dressing room to drop his high earners. He wasn’t the worst manager in the world, but JDT is on a totally different level when it comes to motivating the entire group, keeping the senior players on their toes and simultaneously letting all the players know exactly who runs the team - and all done with a big ruthless smile. Our improved cup performances under JDT are indicative of hugely improved group management of the entire squad.

Mowbray just played mumbo jumbo sides mostly in the cups it just seemed a chance to give some mins to some, play a few favs so not to upset them and chuck the odd kid in.

Last season there seemed a clear plan to set out sides based almost entirely on the youth and second choice players in a structured team system similar to the first team. Obviously it helped we had more youth than ever champing at the bit and the knowledge with them that they'll get a chance of first team action if they perform.

The mentality seemed different so hopefully that remains the case, i certainly don't mind if we have a first team and a cup tie team instead of just a random mix of the two.

Wish I could like this twice, once because I think I agree with every word you wrote, but mainly because you correctly said "champing" instead of "chomping" 🙂

We have these debates before every one of these games but there are never many tickets sold in advance.

Most just rock up on the night and any gate of around 5/6k is pretty standard depending on away turn out.

Adam and Scott Wharton will play according to the Lancashire Telegraph, also Ennis is getting game time to build up his fitness.

Quite alarming that Ennis, despite joining in May hasn't managed more than 45 minutes.

Give you an idea on just how bad shape he was in when he landed, despite @1864roverite claiming to know otherwise.....

Not verified, but I did see a leaked photo of him on his first day at Brockhall:
