Popular Post Eddie Posted August 5, 2023 Popular Post Posted August 5, 2023 I know, I know, it has only been one match. But this messageboard is so often inundated with total negativity that I thought it might be time to enjoy a little bit of optimism. We're off to a great start. We've got a young squad that a lot will be envious of. We play a brand of football that is genuinely really enjoyable to watch. 1 down. 45 to go. This will almost certainly age badly, but let's just take a moment to embrace the positivity. A couple of more signings and there could be reason to hope for - and maybe even expect - a good season. 13 Quote

philipl Posted August 5, 2023 Posted August 5, 2023 The potential is there in this group of players to get so much better quickly. The future is bright The future is blue and white 4 Quote
Backroom DE. Posted August 5, 2023 Backroom Posted August 5, 2023 Bring in a couple of decent attackers and there's every chance of a top six finish. The rest of the team is solid (assuming the Swedish gk signs) with competition for places across the park. 2 Quote

roverandout Posted August 5, 2023 Posted August 5, 2023 I'm still optimistic. I think Wharton gives me the most optimism. If we can keep hold of him then he'll be the star of the season Quote

Andy Posted August 5, 2023 Posted August 5, 2023 I feel like we've got a potentially excellent spine of the team, including the new GK arriving. Both CBs are top-6 standard, we know about A.Wharton and I genuinely think that Leonard's potential at this level is without an upper limit. If we can fill the squad with another 2/3/4 bodies and we do keep hold of JDT, there is absolutely no reason why we'd not be around the top 6. 3 Quote

I enjoy some positivity, but I'm going to piss on your chips. Beating a club at home that is likely going to finish mid-table isn't exactly a reason to start a thread about us going up! Quote
J*B Posted August 5, 2023 Posted August 5, 2023 I admire the optimism, Eddie. Myself, @K-Hod and the rest of the mod team will make sure this thread stays on topic. Quote

HMS Piss The League Rovers are on the way up. Leonard is a goal machine. Markanday is the next Messi. Pears had a chat with Friedel and got infected with supergoalkeeperitis. Tomasson's wife's chippy sold-out of JDT-cakes in the first ten minutes of the grand opening and they're raking it in, so Tomasson is thinking "what a barm cake I was for thinking of leaving, we're on a bread roll!". My source tells me we're on the verge of signing a reborn Nuno Gomes after he saw Leonard's performance today, so we've sorted out the strikers for the season. We are going up. I've seen the light. 👀 Quote

It might be the only opportunity that we have... I still think a win at home to West Brom is a very good start. 1 Quote

Nayef Posted August 5, 2023 Posted August 5, 2023 I felt quite optimistic too before the wba game. Until i read that Kaminski left Rovers. (Where's the emoji of a deflated balloon?) Quote

JohnD Posted August 5, 2023 Posted August 5, 2023 Hopefully not our strongest match day squad but they worked hard for each other, game management was much improved and they were good to watch. Arte et Labore - that's all I ask 👌 1 Quote
JohnD Posted August 13, 2023 Posted August 13, 2023 Tut, tut, the optimism thread had slipped off the first page 😕 The second half performance yesterday was a great recovery and if our current points total is projected over the season we will finish on 92 points! 🤠😎 Happy birthday Alan Shearer, 53 today! 6 Quote

ben_the_beast Posted August 14, 2023 Posted August 14, 2023 One word. Loans. We need 2 attacking loan players through the door who are of good quality. Do that and spend any remaining money wisely on a permanent addition and this could be a promising season. 2 Quote
