No actually I was remonstrating with a coked up moron who kept pushing me aside as if he was to take on the Burnley idiots at the turd so please Gav get your facts in order ! what we saw again today was the cokes up/can’t take your drink twats mouthing off on the fences giving it large to Rotherham fans and then when they realised the fans met together 50 yards down the way it suddenly went quiet as they came face to face with the other retards. My point is go to football to support the team not get drugged up or lashed and then spoil it for the fans who go to enjoy the football. 12 Quote
neophox Posted August 12, 2023 Posted August 12, 2023 Szmodics first half crap...forget...second half coming back only good players do that...were going in the right direction even though a win would had been fully deserved...some of our players aren't up to speed but it will be better for every game. You were trying to fight then at Wigan too, but let’s not split hairs. You're obsessed with this theme, I never saw any of this, nobody else has mentioned it either. I’m not saying the fan base is squeaky clean, but this has been going on since 1960’s, why the outrage now? Your generation we’re throwing bananas at Alex Williams and constantly monkey chanting week in week out, thankfully times have moved on. Edited August 12, 2023 by Gav Quote
Popular Post arbitro Posted August 12, 2023 Popular Post Posted August 12, 2023 Today could have been a snapshot of last season as for an hour we had very little intensity in our play, the passing was careless, far too many individual mistakes and too passive. The last half hour was what I remember from many games in the second half of the season when we were the polar opposite. Credit to Tomasson for his bold changes (there might be a valid point that he had no choice) and suddenly we were on top and the feeling amongst many Rovers fans was that if we could score we would get something. It's strange really because the shape didn't really change after the three substitutes came on but suddenly our side players were getting in behind and looking dangerous. And that's a criticism of Dolan and Markanday who I thought were poor with them both making too many wrong decisions and just didn't look threatening. Of course the sending off helped us too. I said yesterday that Rotherham are almost one dimensional and Hugill won nearly every header today against Carter and Hyam who I thought were both below par. Szmodics had a nightmare first hour. He simply couldn't do anything right but he didn't let it affect him and got his reward with a brace. His attitude is first class and why he has endeared himself to us. Ennis and Gallagher could both have scored as we created chance after chance. Pleasingly Adam Wharton looked more like himself in the second half as he started to thread his passes through. All in all it was another performance that put us Rovers fans through the wringer and after being two down I'm certain the vast majority of us would have taken a draw but at the final whistle I personally felt a little disappointed not to have won. 15 Quote
Popular Post robbojohnno Posted August 12, 2023 Popular Post Posted August 12, 2023 (edited) I thought we started the game well and had we scored the penalty it would have been a comfortable afternoon for us. Unfortunately we missed the penalty and then gave away a horrific goal which gave Rotherham a huge lift and saw them control the rest of the half. The second half started badly with a simple set piece not dealt with but a slightly fortuitous red card gave us a get out of jail card if we wanted it. Until Dolan went off we didn't look like scoring but as soon as Gally came on to make it two up top and Sammie wide left we were a new team and could have had 5 goals rather than the 2 we ended up with. Special Mentions Pickering - very good, particularly at 2 down where he dominated at both ends and seemed one of the few determined to turn it round. JRC - a gamechanger in the middle of the park causing havoc in the inside right channel. Ennis - a proper centre forward, did well for the goal and once up to speed will be the focal point for us. First player since Graham who can hold the ball and shrug off defenders as a striker. Szmodic- a worse half you won't see but he bounced back superbly with 2 goals and is a key player for us. JDT - has got us playing with a clear identity and seems determined to see us score more goals this season even if it may leave us more open. Shame he doesn't get the backing as he would walk this division with a few quality additions. Negatives Dolan and Markanday aren't up to it. Dolan is limited in most areas and Markanday despite the technical ability is physically miles off it. Edited August 12, 2023 by robbojohnno 14 Quote

Waggott said on an interview he hoped for 4-ish new players. JDT is just reminding everyone what the CEO said. He's also reminding everyone we have sold players and brought cash in. I'm sure JDT's fully aware who makes the final decision on whether we can buy a player. i thought the above was fairly obvious. Quote
Tugay-is-God Posted August 12, 2023 Posted August 12, 2023 Wharton was completely nullified in the first half by them man marking/doubling up on him. Once they were down to ten and he was freed up, we started to see the usual him, slipping passes through their defence. I'm sure a lot of teams will have him singled out, and it's something we have to be ready for. When they double up on him, we have to exploit the space they're leaving elsewhere, especially the likes of JRC and Szmodics. 3 Quote

Every fanbase has it’s nobheads, don’t think we particularly have more. The main issue I have with away games is some people unofficially deciding away games are sit where you want whilst others demand to sit in their seat. I often end up with 10 people standing in the five seats surrounding me or, as happened today, a bunch of young lads in my seat refusing to move and people moving me on when I find another empty seat 5 Quote

You can double up on him when he's partnered with Travis - he's no threat to hurt you with the ball. Less so when he's partnered with JRC (or Buckley). 4 Quote

Tricky Posted August 12, 2023 Posted August 12, 2023 Just got back, great comeback, feel like we need to just focus on scoring more than we concede to win ffs, ala Liverpool... Popular Post arbitro Posted August 12, 2023 Popular Post Posted August 12, 2023 Two games in and my main gripe is these bloody short corners which are so unproductive, in fact sometimes handing the initiative to the opponents. As we approached the end of stoppage time in the second half we won a corner. All around me fans were shouting to Hedges to get it in the mixer and a chance to win the game. No, we went short and two of three passes later it was full time. Come on JDT, at the very least mix them up a bit. 12 Quote

The reason we always take short corners is because we are, as a team so small, putting the ball into the box would achieve fuck-all. What we need to be , is better at the short corners. 4 Quote
rigger Posted August 12, 2023 Posted August 12, 2023 For me the only person to come out of todays game with any credit is JRC. Quote
