They can choose nonstop anytime they wish Quote

Popular Post broadsword Posted October 1, 2023 Popular Post Posted October 1, 2023 (edited) Sounds like a fixed mindset to me. I'm not an addiction counselor, but I read plenty on it over the course of the pandemic. The first question to ask someone with an auction is not "why the addiction" it's "why the pain?", they're addicted because they're in pain, and they're in pain because they've had trauma. It's not a choice, it's a desperate need for emotional regulation that drives them to that substance or to that activity, they can't regulate internally All this moral fibre stuff about it's a choice, maybe it is for some people, but not for those with genuine addictions. Do you think people on fentanyl would do it if it was out of choice? It eats your face away. Please think before judging people, because if you speak to them harshly you may on fact be drilling them further into addiction by knocking their emotional state further out of balance Edited October 1, 2023 by broadsword 10 Quote
martonrover Posted October 1, 2023 Posted October 1, 2023 (edited) A professional sports club should not be advertising and promoting a nicotine based product. Yes, there is an upside to vaping if it helps to wean people away from smoking. However, and let's not try to pretend otherwise, Totally Wicked are promoting their product via Rovers in order to encourage as many people as possible to buy their product, regardless of their age or circumstances The only reason they are our sponsors is that we have a (so called) Chief Executive who has no moral compass. Just saying what I see, but I see more school kids/teenagers vaping than I ever did smoking in public and I'd also argue that vapes(more specifically disposables) are a far quicker way of becoming addicted to nicotine than cigarettes are. Upside Down Posted October 1, 2023 Posted October 1, 2023 Unbelievable how small minded some of the posters on here are. Just waltzing through life without any thought or compassion for anyone or anything other than their own tiny bubble. Pathetic. 9 Quote
Oldgregg86 Posted October 1, 2023 Posted October 1, 2023 Having suffered and continue to suffer with addiction I get both sides. Ultimately it’s only the person with the addiction that can stop it and they have to take responsibility for it . However when your mental health is suffering, your moods is low due to chemical imbalances and traumas arise in your life it’s not easy to make the right choices , sometimes you want to numb the pain and consequence when your so low around your choice to drink/smoke/so drugs takes a back seat for a moments respite 4 Quote
