For games like that do they travel down on the day ?

Not sure but i would think so,i'm guessing with little money in the womens game only the big teams in the top division would stay overnight at hotels.

The Rovers Ladies v Liverpool Women is live this Sunday at 2pm on the FA channel or LTV.
Also I’m curious as to why all the other teams in this league are “Women” yet Rovers are “Ladies?”

The match can be watched at

faplayer.thefa.com

although Liverpool will also have a feed on their Twitter @liverpoolfcw & Liverpool Youtube/Facebook (don't know if that will still be neutral commentary though).

The trend in women's football is towards being called Women or something else (Lionesses) because generally Ladies is seen as old-fashioned (is seen by some as implying needing help), Rovers just haven't got around to changing yet but I would expect if they ever got to the WSL, the FA may insist for branding purposes (no teams called Ladies in the WSL at the minute).

Last season, Women's Championship teams would stay in a hotel for longer journeys which would take up a large chunk of budget & becomes more of an issue when games were cancelled due to flooded pitches etc. however not sure if Covid has changed that for everyone this season.

Keep an eye out for our recent signing number 20 at left back, Ali Johnson - from Blackburn & went to the Rovers Academy age 6-16, left to play WSL for Liverpool & Bristol City & has now returned to Rovers.

Thank you for your reply.
It did strike me as odd the different titles. I’m now wondering what some of the European teams names are!

I’ll certainly have a look at Ali Johnson as she must be looking forward to playing against Liverpool.

I’ll definitely be watching this afternoon.

Only drifted in and out of that it was a decent watch and a well-deserved point. Thought Saffron Jordan was unlucky to have her one on one called back for the Liverpool player's handball (?) in the second half - imagine the outrage if that had happened in the Men's game.

What a game Alex Brooks had for us in goal by the way, two or three superb saves. Get her in the Men's side if Kaminski's not back in time for Luton!

Was just about to post how good Rovers GK played,a couple of great saves when it looked like the Liverpool #10 was certain to score.

Finished 0-0.

Very entertaining game and our left back Ali Johnson looks a good player.
They missed a lot of good chances but our goalie made a couple of stunning saves.

We would actually have won the game but for a bizarre piece of refereeing disallowing a goal to give us a free kick!

The goalkeeper Brooks has played 7 League games for Rovers over two spells, keeping 7 clean sheets in 6 wins. Last season she was at Birmingham City who are in the WSL playing behind Hannah Hampton who is regarded as one of the best English keepers although the ones playing for City & Utd (Roebuck & Earps) tend to get more attention.

A lot of the Rovers team have histories with either Liverpool or Everton Academies (& a player on loan from Man Utd) so not surprising they would have wanted to make a point today.

Today was a huge result because a lot of the team are new to the Club, young & still learning how to play with each other. That we have taken a point off a full-time team that was in the WSL last season (& beat us 8-0 in a Cup last season) is a big step forward. Yes we had to ride our luck at times but this team can continue to get better over the season.

It was frustrating when the goal wasn't given so that we could have a free kick but to be fair I think the keeper had stopped playing because the whistle had blown.

Rovers Ladies will face Coventry United at the fantastically named Butts Park Arena tomorrow (Sunday, 22nd November) at 2pm,

Last Sunday, Coventry lost 9-1 v the newly full-time Leicester City & lost 4-0 in the Conti Cup v Sheff Utd midweek.

Last season we drew against them twice (one of them was the game Rovers Ladies played at Ewood Park).

If Rovers win, they will go up to 5th (of 11) in the League.

Coventry United will be providing a livestream of the game on their Youtube channel that can be found here:-
