Adam C Posted September 12, 2023 Posted September 12, 2023 Not sure where else to put this but I found it a very interesting read. He comes across as a thoroughly decent and humble bloke and seems genuinely touched by the regard we rightly hold him in. Reading the details of how his exit was managed is sure to raise the blood pressure. https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/23781240.nelsen-tugay-kean-voicemail-ended-rovers-career/ 5 Quote

roverblue Posted September 12, 2023 Posted September 12, 2023 Interesting bit about standards slipping under Ince. You could see it on match days, really lucky we acted so fast to get in Big Sam or I reckon we would have gone down. 5 Quote
tomphil Posted September 12, 2023 Posted September 12, 2023 What a player and what a guy, all for free ! Glad he mentions about the robotic nature of younger players now it's something iv'e mentioned many times. Flair and individuality and rough diamond characteristics gone forever now. Some good in that but some bad as well in terms of entertainment and intrigue. 4 Quote
jones_rover Posted September 12, 2023 Posted September 12, 2023 Comes across really well, what a player he was for us. Does anyone know who the CEO was at the time that is referred to in the article? 1 Quote
Rogerb Posted September 12, 2023 Posted September 12, 2023 Wages cut by 50per cent due to unable to train due to knee injury due to terms of contract but the contract related to the other knee. Unbelievable! Cost cutting started as soon as they arrived. 2 Quote

He was "general manager"...Nelsen may have used the term CEO loosely? Nelsen rather understating the machinations even today. How long does an NDA last? 1 Quote
chaddyrovers Posted September 12, 2023 Posted September 12, 2023 excellent interview. one of my favourite players of all time. 2 Quote
Backroom DE. Posted September 12, 2023 Backroom Posted September 12, 2023 (edited) Good read, Nelsen comes across as a top bloke, and I'm sure he is. Can still vividly remember his interview on SSN after Allardyce was sacked - you could tell he was absolutely gutted. Interestingly he seems very guarded in what he says about Kean and Venky's, despite being quite forthright on standards dropping under Ince. The way he was let go is absolutely disgraceful, but expected under this lot. No respect for any of the values the club embodied before they took us hostage, and they've continued in that vein throughout. Edited September 12, 2023 by DE. 1 Quote

Unbelievable! Cost cutting started as soon as they arrived. Probably came from the extensions and new terms Anderson handed to all the seniors to avoid mutiny when they sacked Allardyce and promoted the snake. Then he went round offering them 75% settlements to get them off the payroll. Must've made some good % out of all that double dealing. Quote
