martonrover Posted May 17, 2024 Posted May 17, 2024 What is the latest regarding the DoF? Will it be Rudy Gestede? My understanding is that nobody is primed and lined up to jump straight into the role. For the time being, Rovers have John Eustace as head coach, Sean Kimberley who is Head of Recruitment and the existing team that was under Broughton. Chief Executive Steve Waggott already took a role in the negotiations with other clubs and players so he will continue to do so in the meantime. I wouldn't rule an appointment later down the line but there is nobody ready to jump straight in, as I understand. Gestede has been working with the club and is interested in a role on the sporting side, as he told The Lancashire Telegraph in an interview last year. However, he's not ready for the top job yet. Whether he could have a part in a wider structure, let's see ⬆️From Elliott Jackson’s Q & A He might be wrong about the delay in naming a replacement but , if he’s right, doesn’t that tell you everything you need to know about the slap dash haphazard way the club is run. You either want a DOF and take the role seriously, or you don’t. 1 Quote

Someone posted about the 'legal side' not being settled. If I recall correctly, did we not end up in court, with costly settlements, over both the Berg and Shaw 'dismissals'? There's little doubt Broughton will know the warts and all about the last two January window debacles where we 'lost' three players (O'Brien, Brierley and McGuire). I think it's quite clear Broughton has been at the exit door since the latter stages of the January window. It would be a fair assumption to think Broughton is more than p1ssed-off having seen his reputation perhaps tarnished. Is Broughton pursuing either an unfair or constructive dismissal claim (seems Waggott was actively involved in player trading in the last window and 'sourced' Eustace)? In my mind, there is little doubt this is not straightforward, hence the delay, and we could be looking down the barrel at yet another costly settlement. Edited May 18, 2024 by Mercer 1 Quote

The Berg case didn’t delay the announcement of his departure though (no idea about Shaw) Quote

chaddyrovers Posted May 18, 2024 Posted May 18, 2024 (edited) Very short and simple statement Edited May 18, 2024 by chaddyrovers Quote
arbitro Posted May 18, 2024 Posted May 18, 2024 At least Silvester got the 'thanks for your endeavours' line. What have we become? 3 Quote
JHRover Posted May 18, 2024 Posted May 18, 2024 Shameful 'statement' but only to be expected here. Looks grammatically incorrect with too many commas. Suppose they've at least got all the spelling right on this one unlike yesterday's emails 2 Quote
Forever Blue Posted May 18, 2024 Posted May 18, 2024 ‘Gregg’s gone’ would have been less insulting! 1 Quote

Mattyblue Posted May 18, 2024 Posted May 18, 2024 Yep, been posting very oddly and out of character has Parson recently. The bloke deserves some professional courtesy if nothing else - but of course you’d need some courteous professionals running the gaff to offer that. 6 Quote

Sorry, I forgot that everyone has to share your views. Personally, Broughton never convinced me that he was up to bringing the required standard of player on a very limited budget. Managers like Furphy, Lee, Smith, Kendall, Saxton and Don Mackay all had little or no money to spend built decent teams nonetheless. 4 Quote
lraC Posted May 18, 2024 Posted May 18, 2024 Takes the blame for the January 2023 fiasco, even though it wasn’t his fault, gets let down again by others in Jan 24 and is then dismissed. Shameful really. 4 Quote
cesus Posted May 18, 2024 Posted May 18, 2024 To be honest whilst Venkys remain, Broughton, Waggott, et al are just distractions to the core of the problem. 2 Quote

Popular Post JHRover Posted May 18, 2024 Popular Post Posted May 18, 2024 Whether you rate Broughton or not there's a way of doing things. If you're going to go to the trouble of making a statement you at least try to attach a degree of professionalism and respect to it. Just further highlights the type of people we have running the show. Unprofessional, disrespectful, unpleasant and unfit to hold senior office at a club of this stature. 17 Quote

Coincidentally, I was talking to someone who works in hospitality at Rovers on match days. She had nothing but kind words to say about JDT and Eustace , who both took time to chat with them and get to know a little about them GB on the other hand was aloof, completely ignored them and was not liked at all. I think professional courtesy should work both ways, doesn't take much just to acknowledge someone and say hello 3 Quote
Mattyblue Posted May 18, 2024 Posted May 18, 2024 Doesn’t matter if the bloke was a prick, public statements need some degree of professionalism. I’d call it amateur, but non league clubs operate with more gravitas. 8 Quote

JHRover Posted May 18, 2024 Posted May 18, 2024 It's not a popularity contest. I couldn't care less if someone is aloof if they are good at their job. Too much of this down there. It's why Mowbray was worshipped with his tea and biscuits routine reminiscing about growing up in 70s Middlesbrough and presumably why Waggott has got his feet under the table so comfortably. 4 Quote
