I think it's pretty obvious to anyone with even a faint interest that both those incidents were not his fault.

Everybody blaming him for the shit recruitment over the last two years and look how great it's been since.

Just to be clear, I am not blaming him for those 2 failures,  I think we all have suspicions on which direction the finger should really be pointed, but his name is associated with them nonetheless.

Yeah I know that. I got what you were saying, I was merely adding to it.

Shouldn't be too difficult for him to distance himself from it, look at the state of the club now.

Beggars belief doesn't it that if you're good enough at bullshitting you can get a job almost anywhere irrespective of ability.

He's not "Our Gregg" any longer. Thank fuck!

bull*****g is a skill, almost a trade in itself, iit will take you far if you are an expert at it,just look at 80% of middle managers in this country, they`ve no idea what they are doing but get to their exhalted position by bull******g and keep there  by bull******g 😄

I don't blame him for the signings that fell through nor having to shop in the lowest rungs due to lack of backing.

I do blame him for the horrendous back up signings he brought in to develop and talked up like they were the cream of the crop.

I do blame him for implementing the policy of 30% youth players making up the squad as that along with other factors almost saw us relegated.

End of the day he was badly let down by the owners but he was also out of his depth and rather Steve Kean like in the way he talked a good game but clearly didn't have much clue beyond youth level.

I agree he was a bullshitter but comparing him to that absolute piece of human waste is uncalled for.

What happened to Mcguire was an absolute disgrace from the player's standpoint and should never happen to anyone, but, viewed objectively, we were probably being asked to pay way over the odds in terms of fee and wages for a relatively limited player.

Gueye is getting a lot of stick recently after a reasonably promising start but I'd still say this summer's recruitment was a lot better than the summer before.

The initial issue with Mcguire was that despite a record sale, the owners wouldnt authorise a buy for a couple of million. We then renegotiated a loan late in the day which obviously descended into chaos.

Im not sure the recruitment this summer has been a lot better at all. But whoever is employed here has both arms tied behind their backs because we regularly sell and dont reinvest.

Nah the Orange one is a master at his craft of bullshitting but Greg was just another of footballs numerous run of the mill lickspittles.

Quite mad, given that his (*)  2 major failures, are both linked to the MLS (O'Brien moving to the MLS after the failure to sign him, & failing to buy McGuire from an MLS club), that he gets a job at an MLS club

I would have thought his career opportunities in the USA would have been blocked off on that basis

* If not his failures directly, they are very heavily associated with his tenure

It depends what he said at the interview.

I can make you millions, with my contacts in Europe. The proof is the signing I made happen of Maguire, which was at 20 times his true value.

That was all done and dusted, until the tea lady spilled the contents of the teapot, onto his contract and we missed the deadline.

Gregg resurfaces!

Sporting Director of Chicago Fire FC.

Presumably working under 'Technical Director' Sebastian Pelzer, formerly of this parish.

Hope he's packed his thermals ahead of a winter on the shores of Lake Michigan! That said, my personal favourite of all the US Cities I've visited.

Another wrinkle being Chicago's manager, the former US Mens National Team, fellow double G  Gregg Berhalter, the hugely unpopular coach was sacked in June.

Loves a challenge does our Gregg!

My favourite US city too - I spent a fair amount of time in the US in the 90s and felt the place of the smelly onions really stood out as having a distinctive character and vibe compared to most other places I visited. Lake Michigan is a mind bender for folk from round here, who are more used to the brownish brackish water off the Fylde coast than the pristine fresh water expanse of the Great Lakes. Greg will surely fit in with his west coast smile and lugubrious personality.

Gregg The Egg spotted “enjoying” a Shed Seven gig in Manchester on Friday night although you certainly wouldn’t tell from his general demeanour.

When he resisted turning round we started singing “Sammie Szmodics baby” which he clearly heard but didn’t respond to! Miserable tw*t! 😂

Good luck in MLS Gregg 🇺🇸

There is a joke somewhere here about being unable to spot talent and being seen at a Shed Seven gig...

2 Number One Albums this year say otherwise…and he was involved signing Szmodics…but generally I agree he’s a chancer who wasn’t up to the job.

Shed Seven however, great band!
