Blackburn End: Waggott Out

Hope this is ok with the Mods.....

I just think the closure of the Blackburn End against Cardiff next week is such a red line being  crossed that it merits its own thread.

This week's home game against Sunderland is the last only real opportunity to make it clear to Waggott that it is totally not acceptable. What a kick in the teeth to JDT and the players this is aswell as all supporters.

Whilst I don't sit in the Blackburn End, surely this cannot be accepted without a fight and I hope they verbally give him both barrels before, during and after the game. 

How on earth he can have even come up with the idea, let alone have the nerve to implement it is beyond belief. It shows the utter contempt he has for those supporters in the Blackburn End and how sure he is that they do not have it in them to even object. 

I sincerely this isn't accepted by anyone.......I do not know of the Home End being shut ever before in a competitive fixture and hope to god this is made crystal clear to him on Wednesday evening.

The Blackburn End will, as usual be 100% behind the team. I think in this instance you would find the team 100% behind the supporters.

It won't happen for league games but I wouldn't be surprised if it happened again in the cups.... Depends on the opposition I suppose and being drawn at home.

It can't happen for league games, because of season tickets. Cup games are a different prospect.

He's systematically cut, reduced and hollowed out the club on a step-by-step basis since his arrival all those years ago. 

Each year that passes by he unearths another little scheme which in the immediate short term might save a few quid but anyone with an eye on the bigger picture or the longer term wouldn't entertain it.

The CEO of the organisation should be a strong leader who innovates and grows/develops the organisation. He does none of this, he just sits behind his desk thinking of new ways to try and cut costs every year, with zero regard for the impact it has on the fanbase, individuals, the team's performance or the reputation/image of the Club he 'leads'.

Therefore, this is just another example of how he isn't really a CEO. He's a pretender, occupying an office that he shouldn't and wouldn't hold had he not had the good fortune of the worst owners in football giving him a job. 

Of course this all starts and ends with the repugnant Venkys who could remove odious people like Waggott in seconds if they had any interest. But of course they don't. There are only a few things they want from a CEO. A yes man who won't rock the boat, who will tolerate their mental ways of operating, who will cover for their nonsense with the fans and media, who will ensure compliance with regulations and who will save them some money.

Hey, it beats 'consultancy' work at Southend United and Gillingham and working in Charlton's Community Trust. Another one promoted way above and beyond his station by idiots who prefer those who talk a good game rather than those with track records of achievement.

It's clear to me that JDT has sussed him out. Took a few months but he knows what he's dealing with and he's worked out that Broughton is another mere pawn in this sorry regime. 

Unfortunately for us Waggott will hang onto this particular gravy train for as long as he can, by which time JDT will be long gone and he can oversee more hollowing out of a once great club. I wonder what will be left by the time he has finished.

I hope the fans give him hell but don't expect they will or that he will be bothered by it. The only occasion I've witnessed any sort of vocal opposition to him in 6 years now was the first half away at Watford last season which came soon after the January calamity.

I'm not a conspiracy theorist but there are some plays by people in power that just stink of trying to show dominance. THIS IS ONE OF THOSE.

It cannot cost insane amounts to open the bottom tier of a stand to a professional football team. All this shows to me is somebody in power is flexing and saying I can do as I please.

This decision was the final straw from me. He's bullshitted his way through hiking season ticket prices and other costcutting to the detriment of fans, but shutting down our main 'stand' for what must be tiny benefit (but more likely detriment) is idiotic, brainless and uncaring.

I hope he gets an attendance worthy of his dickhead decision.

It’s interesting as to why he hasn’t been challenged on things he has done. He needs to be recorded and things played back to him on what he has said. That would be a start of watching him ‘squirm’.

The more we get at him, the more he’ll feel the heat. Make him as uncomfortable as possible. Just keep going at him.

There is cost cutting at a football club, but closing "the" home end is more than cost cutting. League two Accy Stanley wouldn't dream of closing the Clayton End but Blackburn Rovers who missed out on the play offs to the Premier League on goal difference 4 months ago will happily close the Blackburn End.

No normal Championship club would shut their home end and definitely wouldn't for a match against Championship opposition.

No normal Championship club would significantly increase the price of their season tickets in the middle of a pandemic and cost of living crisis. Most have reduced or frozen prices.

No normal Championship club would spend thousands of pounds to have white plastic bin liners placed over seats to spell out lettering. Most would pay a bit more for real white seats and do it properly/permanently.

No normal Championship club would cut their transfer and wage budget overnight in the middle of the summer.

No normal Championship club would conduct the business we have done in the last two January windows when well placed and in with a real shot at least of the play-offs.

No normal Championship club would employ Steve Waggott as CEO.

We aren't normal and won't be until these awful owners depart.

We never sell many before these games most are sold on the run up or night so lets not start rewriting history to try and justify closing an end.

We never get big crowds for them and there is always more in the JW than the BBE but that isn't the point at all.

He has a job to do and with Venkys once again pulling the drawbridge up on funding, he has to make cost savings, but he's got this one spectacularly wrong. 

He's banking on little or no reaction to the closure, I think thats a given, do people really care? Have we seen any statements from supporters groups so far? Maybe we have?

If nothing else fill it with school children or local charities for free, but don't close it......
