This is the Championship not academy football, the requirement is to get results on a consistent basis and if that means ditching one system and reverting to something else so be it. The Club and league position are more important than what is best for individuals or most pleasing on the eye / balance sheet. You play a formation that's suits your best attacking players like Szmodics and Wharton not Travis. 1 hour ago, JHRover said: You're also overlooking the not so insignificant issues of fatigue, dips on form, injuries and suspensions, which will come, and for that reason you need a SQUAD not just a good starting XI. Your attitude appears to be that we should just let people go because they aren't currently getting on the teamsheet. No my attitude is we have a squad that's fit our style of play and we replace player for player whether it's injuries or form or fatigue. 1 hour ago, JHRover said: You've already made your mind up on this like you have on so many other things so there's little point in engaging in an endless debate with you. Your second question of course nobody knows the answer to. We need players in so means selling someone like Travis to bring a couple of players then I'm for it. If we selling and not replacing then not in favour of it 1 hour ago, JHRover said: I'm not sure what comments you are referring to but I think you are daft if you think JDT is in any way happy with what has happened here over the last 6 months. You'd be hard pressed to find any manager at any club that is happy with having the rug pulled out from under him mid transfer window and being forced to play kids for reasons other than trying to get promoted. Popular Post Ghost7
You'd have to be very naive to listen to JDT's interview and get a man who's happy to be here. He's clearly extremely disappointed by the summer transfer activity, the age of the squad, cutting of the budget, lack of clarity about the budget going forward and the ambitions of the people above him. You would be right in thinking he's a good professional and loyal to his young players but happy, c'mon. Let's get real. Being successful in football management isn't just about liking the fans, or the players and that isn't what makes a good manager stay in a job - he's highlighting that this isn't enough for success - we have that in place, we are all ambitious and like each other at this level and look where we are - is what he's saying. Ultimately he needs the people above him to do their bit and they never will. JDT "liking" his players and the fans, is the equivalent of us fans liking the club logo, of course we do. It doesn't mean you buy a season ticket and it doesn't mean he'll stick around. The fact he's saying these things in response to questions such as "Are you frustrated Jon?" should be enough of a red flag for you to realise he's in a desperate situation and is completely disillusioned with the club and its hierarchy. He's an intelligent man, and it's what he doesn't say that's always more revealing. Have a listen... he essentially tells every interviewer you're an intelligent enough person to not need me to answer that question and in doing so he is answering it. "The fans are ambitious, my players are ambitious" I can't believe this needs spelling out but a happy football manager in this interview scenario finishes those sentences with "and the owners are ambitious, I speak with them every day" or "the club is very supportive and it is showing on the pitch". WAKE UP ROVERS FANS FFS.

nbdrovers
isn't it currently the off-season for the nordic leagues? that surely makes january a ripe time for some pickings if we do now have a little bit of money to play around with. The High Court of Delhi has set a date for Venkateshwara Hatcheries Private Limited's latest application to push through funding for Blackburn Rovers. Rovers are officially owned by Venky's London Limited, which falls under the umbrella of parent company VHPL. VHPL has been involved in a row with the Indian government and had assets worth £7.3m seized, relating to money used to purchase a luxury house in Lancashire in 2011. In October, a further order was made by India’s Enforcement Directorate to seize £2.3m of assets as part of 'an investigation relating to alleged violation of the foreign exchange law'. As a result, the club have endured cash flow problems since the summer, with the transfer budget cut by 15 per cent. Rovers still signed two players for fees during the last transfer window but deals are being approved on an ad-hoc basis. It has been tougher for Venky's to push through funding from India and, as a result, they have used the High Court to ensure that the club remains fully supported. In November, the High Court of Dehli approved an application for £11.5million to be transferred for Roverso, in order to meet their financial obligations. That money was accounted to cover wages of playing and non-playing staff, utilities, VAT and the repayment of loans. The money was used to cover the club's costs and was not allowed to be spent on transfer activity. The court was satisfied that “the function of the club is not yet under any cloud of suspicion” and therefore the money was allowed to pass through. Another date has been set by the High Court after VHPL put through another application to release funding. That will be heard at the end of the month on the 24th of January. Rovers expect the application to be successful, as it was in November. Once again, any funding released through these channels will be accounted for and won't be directly used to bolster Tomasson's squad. The club have always maintained that Venky's remain fully committed to Blackburn Rovers and this latest application shows they still intend to fund the club. However, there are fair questions to be asked about how sustainable this process will be in the long term. There has not been any clarity on how long the restrictions in India will last for and whether the investigations are close to a conclusion. Tomasson has spoken openly about the cash flow problems at the club, which has left him with a lighter playing squad this season. The team has also not been able to fly to long-distance matches, something the head coach has linked to the budget cuts.

J*B
There seems to be a lot of confusion over this so its worthwhile us all being clear. The £11.5M being requested will be approved, because a precedent has been set now by the Indian Government, but this money will only cover paying the existing bills from 1st December onwards. These funds do not have a pound in them for transfers and Venkys cannot send us more money for transfers whilst under the restrictions. There is no clear end date for when the restrictions will end, this could still be the case this time next year.
