Ipswich pay it all, we resume paying Buckley's wage in full whilst injured and take on the nominal costs of the two loans from Villa and Brighton

That's the name of the game here, nothing more.

We'll also have likely received a loan fee. Even £100k, as little as it is in football terms, would help us if there have been any more cash flow issues.

It does feel like letting Trav go out so early in the window is going to backfire massively unless the club bring someone in.

How far off is Buckley because he's now somehow found himself as next in line for central midfield should Tronstad or Garrett get injured or suspended. I suppose you could include JRC in the mix but he's needed more at right back at the moment.

Too many gaps to plug and not enough time, resources or competence to do it.

Indeed and three weeks later a regular midfield starter leaves so every chance he’d now be back in the team. 

That’s football, it’s a long season, you don’t just loan out any senior player that isn’t in the side - especially with a squad as young, injury prone and small as this.

Did Travis fit our playing style? Also Travis wanted out cos he wanted to play the 6 role and JDT didn't play him there. Tronstad has proven his worth in that role surely to be first choice. Travis didn't want to sit on the bench all season

Amazing how it is always the most expensive, experienced or sought after players that end up not fitting "the style" or getting itchy feet and wanting to go elsewhere, and ever so conveniently their departures facilitate a further round of cost cuts.

Almost as though there's another constant factor in play here.

Don’t come on here as much as I used to and also don’t claim to be an ITK, but thought I’d share what I do know. 
 

A.Wharton doesn’t really want the Palace move. Adam is very close with his family, still lives with his parents & Scott bought a house just down the road to stay close by. 
 

Adam and family are obviously aware of his potential and knew one day that a move away from Rovers is a real possibility, however they all preferred a move to a club further north. ‘A club as far down as Wolves’ would have been Adam’s preference. 
 

Still likely that the move goes through but it’s not because the player wants it.

Travis would now be a regular upon Wharton leaving. 

Fact of the matter is we will have lost a key player and our best talent along with our captain who has proven over a number of seasons that he is a very competent Championship midfielder.

We have to bring in at least one if not 2 midfielders and there is no excuse not to. We can list what we have yet, Garrett is not ready for regular football at this level, Ayari is an attacking midfielder with only a brief and unsuccessful spell in that different position at Coventry under his belt, Buckley is out for a few weeks and has not been good enough to play either here or in an awful Sheff Weds team and Rankin Costello is a RB.

We are almost certainly going to end a window in which we had to strengthen far weaker than when we started it.

Not at all. Dack didn't. Neither did Travis. Some.players don't  

It's was quite clear last season Travis didn't suit him.

Let’s be honest if we don’t bring in at least 4 this window has been another disaster! We’ve lost key experience and our best technical player! We needed a centre back, right winger and a striker anyway we now also need a centre mid! I can’t seen us brining in 4 or anything close to that.
