To be fair the vast majority of meltdown and drama was on here, we have no idea what it actually looked like or what the problems were/weren't within the inner machinations of the club! History would point to it being incompetence/V's interference or a combination of both but we just don't know

The circumstances will be out of GB and JDTs hands. If McGuire is convinced they want him, then it's easy to look past what happened earlier. Plus if the Owls are his only option, I know what I'd choose if I was him 😉

What if, what if…we actually did just inform them that the Wharton cash hadn’t landed, so they (DM and entourage) holed up waiting for the call and now the money has landed, so it’s back on?

Since last night, it seems that the delay in the Wharton deal was an attempt by Rovers to get Wharton back on loan for the remainder of the season. Nothing wrong with trying that and, in fact, it probably what everyone at the club hoped for.

The other report is that McGuire was advised to not fly over due to the ongoing negotiation over the Wharton deal, but that he wanted to anyway. Worst thing for McGuire is he'd speak to one or two other Championship clubs and potentially get a deal, or just go back to Orlando. But it sounds like we were (and maybe still are) McGuire's first choice, hence why talks have resumed now that the Wharton deal is finalised.

Seems straightforward to me.

If we’d told him not to bother flying out we’ve given up any chance of him signing though. We couldn’t exactly ring him this afternoon and ask him just to nip across the Atlantic so sign his paperwork and do his medical.

I suspect that is being extremely kind to Rovers.

We have form for this kind of thing.

Even now it seems as if we are playing for time. Why are further negotiations needed when we were told it was all agreed in principle, before we pulled the plug?

Tbf it's also possible we just don't know exactly what happened and it's been exaggerated. Nearing transfer deadline it gets very easy for stories to be blown out of proportion. 'We can't confirm it until Wharton is finalised' can quickly snowball into 'the deal has collapsed mid-flight' once a bit of Chinese whispering has reached the clickbait peddlers.

Probably why we are back in talks with his representatives as Wharton's bonus has left us with less than anticipated. Put everything together and it makes sense. Wharton deal taking longer than usual, And McGuire deal was already agreed in principal

No body else seem to think it's quite funny that everything now seems to be 'back on' with McGuire since shortly after that Orlando City guy posted a brief history of Venky's reign?

Venky's being shamed across the US, that won't have gone down too well I imagine.

I thought it was brilliant, but we need to make sure that, even if the transfer is completed, all that stuff just doesn't disappear.

A loyalty bonus wouldn't put on hold any move. If the move is wanted by both clubs then it can just be given in instalments over X amount of years or another way rather than in one lump sum. 

Sounds like the Wharton deal has been agreed and ready to be signed off. Probably just waiting for our lot to sort it's mess out before officially confirming.
