If an offer of 6-7M came in for Carter you'd very quickly open your eyes and realise you were dreaming.

When has this scenario ever happened in venkys world before?

‘Getting players x, y and z back from injury is like three new signings’.

One of those standard cliches… but it’s the best this window will get for us so I’ll clutch that straw.

On the face of it, potentially a good bit of business. However, and it’s a bit however, I know that’s a position that JDT wanted/wants experience in, so it leaves me to wonder how happy he’ll be with this continued model of only signing players with resale value.

Bit of a strange move considering our lack of budget. Didn't think a CB was a priority, unless the club is planning on selling on of the current lot. Don't know anything about the lad, hopefully he's a good prospect.

Is Hill going to get their first team squad currently?

He cant play for another club apart from us or Bournemouth due to 2 clubs rule.

Also why assume we selling given we are short of options at the back anyway.

Any extra bods are welcome at the min but is he even coming now and can he make the step up ?

Yet another young development player isn't going to solve our recurring problems but i suppose it fits the model and the excuse book.

Who is making way if he's coming in now ?

It’s what ‘the club’ want. ‘Development’, ‘increasing player value’, ‘no pressure for results’. Replace GB by all means but the next fella will follow the exact same route.

Apt that it’s Crewe that we are taking players from.

Another kid, fuck off Brougton, get some proper fellas in, sick of this weak as piss football.

Said it before on here, but I’ve been told by someone who would know, that Venky’s will only sanction money for players with resale value. Whether Broughton is ‘on board’ with it I don’t know, but the model is all Venky’s.

An ok signing on the surface, nothing to get too excited about, if it happens.

If it’s the sum total of our January business though it’s a joke. Seems a strange area to invest our limited funds in when you consider the glaring weaknesses in the squad.

VenkyWorld logic all over.

Would rather throw £20 million down the toilet every season treading water in the second division but making a mighty £1 million or so back in ‘player profits’ than actually even thinking about how to reach the PL and its untold riches.

Yes this is the Venky and shadow man model. Money only comes in if there's a 'business plan' argument supporting it. See Davenport, Edun etc.

Interesting that the Indian government 'restrictions' seem to be eased for this one but of course prevent any signings of proven quality/ experience.

If it is what the club want and Tomasson is on board with it, then the 'inexperience' excuses need to stop when we lose.

JDT has publicly said many times the project has changed and Waggott said JDT is ambitious.

It is clear that JDT is not onboard at all. How could anyone think so?

If the rumour is true, then I suspect that we'll be shipping someone out, probably Carter, and looking to make a trading profit on the face of things.

I think Sam Barnes' contract is up in June also.

Because he's still here collecting his salary.

He’s a gun for hire. If they want to pay him a good wage whilst learning the ropes of English football, then why not. He’ll find a job easy enough in Holland, Scandinavia etc after this, so no skin off his nose.
