Trouble is they wan't adult wages. I think Gregg walks around with a bag of lollipops in his pocket. 10 Quote

JDT says he wanted to leave in the summer. Ship him off. No he hasn't he was great for a spell last season then out of the team but came back well before tailing off again clearly struggling with the style that was being implemented by then. Was decent enough early this season before struggling even more with what he was being asked to do instead of his natural role. Both those spells he was decent so was the team and results funnily enough and awful players doing get snapped up a team in 2nd place serious about going for promotion. A very astute singing for them. 7 Quote

A very astute singing for them. That’s the crux of it. Travis is a solid championship player also he's experienced, a leader and gets stuck in, which is what we're desperately lacking at the moment. We’re conceding three goals on average per game. He is a holding midfielder. Travis should be the first name on our team sheet but he doesn’t fit in to a style no one seems to want. Either way loaning him to Ipswich is madness. 7 Quote

Mattyblue Posted January 5, 2024 Posted January 5, 2024 (edited) ‘First name on the team sheet’?! Now don’t get me wrong I think he should have stayed as an experienced player in a small, young squad, but some very short memories, he’s been pretty average for a good while. The problem is that one person who does want the style, is the most important person as far as the playing style is concerned, JDT. 1 Quote
simongarnerisgod Posted January 5, 2024 Posted January 5, 2024 not to get a fee for travis is completely moronic even more moronic is replacing him with another baby carter will be next, are we replacing him??????? pretty sure we`ll lose out on o`riordan if we keep fannying about over how to pay rovers going back to the keane era chaos, with idiots in every department making totally wrong decisions 3 Quote

There will be a chorus of boos at some point and if Greg is instrumental in the decision, he can’t have great Eurovision of our future aspirations. Edited January 5, 2024 by lraC 2 Quote

It's the same as the Buckley and Kaminski situations where at a normal well run club if they weren't in the side for a spell they'd be told to get their heads down and earn or wait to get back in again. Here though now such is the push to get rid of anybody on over 5 grand a week that as soon as they are out of the side they are being pushed to the door regardless of what purpose they still serve. It's pathetic and will only lead to league 1 but i suspect they know that but aren't particularly bothered. Edited January 5, 2024 by tomphil 3 Quote
arbitro Posted January 5, 2024 Posted January 5, 2024 5 hours ago, Hasta said: Because he's clever in interviews. See the bus comments. Also, Tomasson was almost mocking of Waggots "our aim is to survive" at the start of the season. Saying along the lines of that may be his aim but we are more ambitious. However he now uses it as "everyone knows our aim is to survive" now that we are doing shite. So knowing that this wouldn't be a popular move, I dont think it's unreasonable to think that he's stretching the truth in his quotes. Even if they are true, as the club captain will be returning to Ewood in he summer (with or without JDT in situ) it's a bit unprofessional to come out and say it. But you are correct I don't know for sure. And in true Rovers style, get ready for the inevitable Tronstadt injury in January. I don't believe he is wrong and I give him credit for almost going rogue and telling the truth. We all know how he was mislead and let down. I personally don't think the club could have done anything else with Travis apart from selling him. He wanted out and these are facts we should be told. 5 Quote
bigbrandjohn Posted January 5, 2024 Posted January 5, 2024 I guess we should look on the bright side. Shipping Travis and getting the Villa and Brighton boys in on the 5th January is kind of revolutionary. Currently on page 66. It is normally about page 536 before the earth beneath our feet begins to stir. 2 Quote
Hi Mack Posted January 5, 2024 Posted January 5, 2024 I blame all this on Broughton. Can’t stand the man. He is well and truly out of his depth. JDT has quite blatantly asked for experience and we ship Travis out and sign 2 kids. 4 Quote

He'll probably never kick a ball for them again. I seem to recall many making similar comments about JPvH when we signed him... that didn't turn out so bad. Stop writing this guy off so quickly. 2 Quote
Hasta Posted January 5, 2024 Posted January 5, 2024 The big part of the reason we bounced back from league one last time was the experience of Mulgrew, Graham, Smallwood, Downing, Conway, Bennett plus buying the leagues best player in Dack. If we were to go down in the next two years I’d worry more about doing a double drop than bouncing back. 1 Quote

harryhealless1928 Posted January 5, 2024 Posted January 5, 2024 Remember what happened when we loaned Ipswich Keith Andrews a long time ago? The lad scored loads of goals for them, had some great matches then they ducked-out of buying him!! Whos to say they wont do a number on us again? That £800k offer from Millwall looks quite tempting in hindsight!! 1 Quote

Also got alot of caps on international level both for U21 and national team. £5 million is chicken feed to a Premier League club. Quote
