JRCs got himself a bloody good agent if he's gone from a bit part academy graduate looking to be shipped out 12 months ago to our fifth highest earner! While directionally I think the numbers feel roughly right, overall something doesn't really make sense. In total SalarySports adds up to Blackburn Rovers total salary bill is £13,203,840... But that is is massively less than the £24M listed in the most recent 21/22 accounts according to this swissramble article below. I can't see the entire staff and director wage bill being more than £3M absolute tops. So either we've chopped off £8m from our player salary cost (equivalent to £150k a week) since the end of 22 or there's something I am not getting. https://swissramble.substack.com/p/blackburn-rovers-finances-202122 Rovers employ around 240 people. The non-playing staff don't live on fresh air. Given the execs and highly trained specialists in the operation, they could add as much as 10m in wages and wage costs (remember employer's ERNI) Quote

Popular Post Mattyblue Posted January 8, 2024 Popular Post Posted January 8, 2024 (edited) So the revolving door of loans for the next five years begins. Still, he’ll be on a cracking wedge for a teenager, so who cares, ay? Edited January 8, 2024 by Mattyblue 17 Quote
JHRover Posted January 8, 2024 Posted January 8, 2024 He can do what he would have been doing here - playing mid-table to bottom half Championship games - but getting paid far, far more off Spurs than he would have got here. In addition if he doesn't like it there or he struggles to hold down a place in their team then it matters not because come the summer he can go elsewhere. Quote

Ricky Posted January 8, 2024 Posted January 8, 2024 (edited) Could we talk nicely to Bournemouth and get Kieffer Moore on loan? Sunderland interested at the moment. Should have a relationship after Hills loan here. Edited January 8, 2024 by Ricky 3 Quote

Sigurdsson's wages will be around 15k also I very much doubt that as they both came in on lower wages so no way have they been trebled here. I'd say a more modest amount of c10k as will Siggy. That's 3 of them for the wages of 2 of the previous high earners that's how it works here now i think. Quote

Twice the journey from Ewood / Brockhall. Has Mrs Mowbray lost her touch in the kitchen or was 'being so far away from home' just more Mowbray bullsh1t!? Just shows how full of shite he really is as when things were going bad at Coventry he was doing the same sob story of being so far away from home. Some Sunland fans were commenting how weary and fed up he looked this season during their non winning run, he'll not see out 2.5 years at Brum i'll wager anyone on that. He'll start well then it'll all tail off again in 12 months time and they'll be moaning about him. Could however get interesting if he does get a big budget. 2 Quote

It's almost guaranteed that he will hit a terrible run of form at some point. We, obviously had no interest in sacking him and just let it run it's course but neither Sunderland or Birmingham will allow it. 1 Quote

Yep, he was a regular Championship performer with Coventry Also Siggy an a free will mean he will be at the higher end of the Rovers wage scale, and is anyone seriously kidding themselves that the top scorer in the division would sign a new contract last month on £10K/week. And as I said before, this would be before any bonuses. Edited January 8, 2024 by KentExile 1 Quote

He was signed by Coventry in 2017 when they were skint and he came from being loaned out to 3 or 4 clubs so no way was he on big wages there. We picked him up for a modest fee when they again needed money and we just aren't signing players on big wages anymore. I've seen it mentioned he's on about 9k pwk here now and i'd say that sounds about right there is no way he's on Ayala style money. He didn't come free, wasn't on 30k before at a big paying club and didn't have much pedigree for higher level football. Quote

I'd say he'd be delighted with 10k pwk plus bonuses now here and who was bidding for him to drive his wage demands up anyway ? Some people really need to get their heads out of dreamland with this wages lark this is Blackburn Rovers 2024 we are not paying everything double figure weekly wages, not for one second. Especially not foreign imports that Siigy would be nowhere near here if he wantted 15 grand a week ffs. Quote

Yes, I am sure Szmodics was on about what you say at Posh (who had just been relegated from the Championship with Szmodics far from proven at this level) and he was probably on 10k/week when Rovers signed him But following the last 1.5 years and especially this season. His new contract a month or so ago would have included a very significant wage increase. And look at the wage bills that all clubs in the division post, I agree that Rovers wage bill looks mental!, and its still one of the middling wage bills in the division Edited January 8, 2024 by KentExile 1 Quote

He's practically part time though isn't he ? I mean how many times is he up here aside from game day ? And it seems he now only covers half the goings on with GB now in charge of the football operation so i'm sure his role is less hands on that some higher paid guys. I think we've seen evidence of that aplenty recently when he doesn't seem to know whats going on because it's all let to various other dept heads. Very smart way to do things when you want to avoid accountability for anything. Quote

If he is pushing for more game time in order to be considered for the Euros the cherries may take a contribution only to his salary. Obviously if other teams are willing pay his full salary then we will have no chance. Quote

Coventry’s wage bill (21-22 accounting period) was about 60% of ours so his salary would probably have been relatively low.
