pick32 Posted September 27, 2023 Posted September 27, 2023 I’m going to say it, I fancy an upset here. Westham last year were better than this current Chelsea side 2 Quote

Gordon Gekko Posted September 27, 2023 Posted September 27, 2023 The only time I remember us winning at the Bridge was when we won the league in 94/95, think it was Sutton with the winner, live on Sky Sports Super Sunday. Also remember us getting knocked out of a cup game there in 97/98 and Sutton missing a penalty. That was when we had that rank orange and grey away kit! Quote
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted September 27, 2023 Posted September 27, 2023 It’s a tough draw but so was West Ham and Leicester away last season. Should be a decent pay day. 1 Quote
superniko Posted September 27, 2023 Posted September 27, 2023 (edited) I’d imagine a 4k+ allocation, beware they charged £32 tonight for a Carabao Cup match. Chelsea the 12:30 Saturday game before it so I’d imagine we’ll be a Tuesday night match on Halloween! With Fulham, Everton, Liverpool, United all playing Sunday they’ll be the Wednesday night matches Edited September 27, 2023 by superniko Quote
tomphil Posted September 27, 2023 Posted September 27, 2023 Mixed feelings with this i'd have preferred Mansfield or Port Vale and try and keep the run going these games are vital for our development these days. However it's a great stage for the young team to play on and they deserve a big night out in top class surroundings. 2 Quote

My one and only visit was at the start of the 93/94 season. We won 2-1 having been a goal down. All I really remember was the terracing was miles from the pitch behind the goals. 2 Quote
JHRover Posted September 27, 2023 Posted September 27, 2023 After recent away games at Watford, Plymouth and Ipswich, and with long trips to QPR, Millwall and Norwich all in the next month or so, the addition of Chelsea to the fixture list is really going to test the fans. Quote

Ossydave Posted September 28, 2023 Posted September 28, 2023 (edited) Nothing to fear really, Chelsea have been far from amazing this season so far and not sure how 'up for it' they'll be. Should be a decent following too as with West Ham last season 👍 At least 4 prem teams will exit the cup too which should be another incentive to get through to the quarters..... Mattyblue Posted September 28, 2023 Posted September 28, 2023 Not a new ground like West Ham obviously, but there will be plenty that haven’t been for donkeys years or never in the younger generation, so we’ll take a few. Though maybe not WHU levels as it was only a tenner there from memory, not the £30+ this lot will charge. Quote

Racking up the mileage on Swags new coach, resale value plummeting. 3 Quote
JHRover Posted September 28, 2023 Posted September 28, 2023 The two clubs must mutually agree ticket prices in advance. So fear not, I'm sure 'man of the people' Waggott will be doing his bit to keep prices down to a level in keeping with what he has been charging at Ewood. 1 Quote
superniko Posted September 28, 2023 Posted September 28, 2023 AFC Wimbledon were charged £26 and then Brighton £32. Hopefully we’re in the lower range, but they are trying to claw back their £1billion spent. Quote

Is the ticket revenue halved between clubs in this cup? If so, expect waggott to only try and increase the prices 🤣 Quote
martonrover Posted September 28, 2023 Posted September 28, 2023 Great for the players involved, and essentially a free hit. However, not great for the majority of supporters, (travel, midweek, cost and unlikely to be televised). I suspect that Pochettino will be making some progress by then and Chelsea, without the interference of European football, will probably play the strongest side possible. There are only three trophies they can target this season, and this one constitutes their most realistic chance. 1 Quote
sharpysharps86 Posted September 28, 2023 Posted September 28, 2023 We'll see where Chelsea are by the time the game comes around, but if Rovers were to play them tomorrow I wouldn't be at all surprised if there was an upset. Quote
roversfan99 Posted September 28, 2023 Posted September 28, 2023 I personally think it seems like quite a good game to be televised. That being said, we know that Sky will naturally gravitate towards all Premier League games... Quote
Upside Down Posted September 28, 2023 Posted September 28, 2023 Chelsea away. Just another fixture until venkys darkened our door. Now it's a marquee event. 7 Quote

Then I think Arsenal v West Ham and probably Bournemouth v Liverpool are more likely to be on than our game. 1 Quote
HowieFive0 Posted September 28, 2023 Posted September 28, 2023 Personally think the Chelsea game could be one Sky pick especially with all the talk of Chelsea in free fall and Poch on thin ice. Throw in our goals per game ratio ..i think its got a good chance to be on TV Quote
Mattyblue Posted September 28, 2023 Posted September 28, 2023 Definitely if it was at Ewood, but it’s rare for TV to pick a lower league team away at a PL side (unless at Old Trafford, of course). 1 Quote
Polky Posted September 28, 2023 Posted September 28, 2023 Hopefully we’ll get a good allocation. Looks like Brighton had the whole ‘Shed End’ which holds just under 7,000. I don’t think we’ll sell as many as West Ham last year, but let’s hope we can bring at least 4,000 🙏🏻 Quote

Surely the best choice for cup competitions is teams across different leagues. Not games they already may have one once or even twice. Quote

I don't think we'll take quite that many to Chelsea at £30 a ticket. 2 Quote
