Upside Down Posted November 17, 2023 Posted November 17, 2023 So after an international break and a couple of tough fixtures for England against Treasure Island and The Lost City Of Atlantis, it's back to business and some real football. A weakened Rovers side had their pants pulled down prior to the break. Hopefully some key players can return from injury and lead us to glory. Stoke 0-3 Rovers 1 Quote

rigger Posted November 18, 2023 Posted November 18, 2023 It's a nice easy walk from the train station along the canal to the ground. There are even a couple of make-shift bars on barges. Quote
Ossydave Posted November 18, 2023 Posted November 18, 2023 It's Stoke and its post International break, expecting a right dire affair to be honest. 1 nil either way or a 1-1 draw. It'll piss down and there'll be a swirling wind. That's what usually happens at Stoke from past experience. Quote
MarkBRFC Posted November 18, 2023 Posted November 18, 2023 5 clean sheets in a row for Stoke. We miss a shed load of chances. See this being similar to Preston, to much strength, physicality, pace and experience for our lot. Stoke 2 Rovers 0 1 Quote
BlackburnEnd75 Posted November 18, 2023 Posted November 18, 2023 Wahlsted Brittain. Hill. Wharton. Pickering Tronstad. Wharton Dolan. Szmodics. Moran Ennis or Leonard or Telalovic Time to give one of the strikers a proper run in the side. Quote

tomphil Posted November 19, 2023 Posted November 19, 2023 Stoke - A place you drive past on the M6 and would only ever enter to visit for a football match. Tough venue and it'll be a tough game as always, could go either way but as usual we need to notch first in order to get anything. Stoke 0 Rovers 0 1 Quote

only2garners Posted November 19, 2023 Posted November 19, 2023 Having a canal narrowboat I've spent plenty of time in and around Stoke over the years - indeed the Caldon Canal which starts in Etruria is my favourite. In particular I commend the wonderful (and wonderfully named) Holy Inadequate pub just off the A500 in Etruria. A marvellous selection of ales and craft beers and a great atmosphere. 2 Quote

Northern soul was a massive movement. Wigan Casino was just one venue. As a comparison, you might say football was just about the premier league. Edited November 19, 2023 by rigger 2 Quote
Popular Post lraC Posted November 19, 2023 Popular Post Posted November 19, 2023 It’s my Grandsons first away game so hope we can win for him. My son is going too, so three generations of us. Looking forward to the game and flying in from Spain on Wednesday. 11 Quote

47er Posted November 19, 2023 Posted November 19, 2023 I fear we'll lose this one and the nerves will be jangling again. Quote
philipl Posted November 20, 2023 Posted November 20, 2023 Two sides desperate for a season reset. On paper Stoke had a good summer transfer window so could be dangerous opponents. That said, we owe them a beating based on our very recent record against them. Quote

This is probably the most novel way of providing per match drinks and food particularly given the dearth of pubs around the ground. I have passed it several times in match days and it is busy and seems welcoming. If you park on Campbell Road it's a 10-15 minute walk and then 5 minutes to the ground. Quote
Mattyblue Posted November 20, 2023 Posted November 20, 2023 Bod in the train station is always good for ale, tap room of the Titanic Brewery. 1 Quote

There is also a designated away fans pub a few minutes walk from the train station from where they run buses to the ground. I used the bus service a few seasons back and it was pretty much full of lairy, boozed up (or whatever) adolescents giving it the big 'un. I had my granddaughter with me but the saving grace was that several police rode on the bus with us. Quote
ruggles1995 Posted November 20, 2023 Posted November 20, 2023 we seem a lot better away from home, so Im a little bit optimistic about it, I cant see JDT changing too much tbh apart from the back 4. if we win im going 2-1. But realistically maybe 1-1 or 1-0 stoke. Quote
roverblue Posted November 20, 2023 Posted November 20, 2023 I still feeling deflated from the north end defeat, so think we will lose 1-0. Stoke went crazy with signings over the summer and it doesn't seem to have gelled yet which is one positive going into it. 1 Quote
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted November 20, 2023 Posted November 20, 2023 Thank God the football is back! 1-1 1 Quote
