Not strong enough, gives the ball away too much, doesn’t press…I’d sub him off…o wait He needs a rest. Quote
jim mk2 Posted December 16, 2023 Posted December 16, 2023 Division One defending and National League goalkeeping. Not good enough On past form, that's that for today folks Quote
Gordon Gekko Posted December 16, 2023 Posted December 16, 2023 Keeper needs to be coming out and being physical there, that was pathetic Quote

Bethnal Posted December 16, 2023 Posted December 16, 2023 Big chance missed after Szmodics’ free kick radically shifts the game. Cheap goal, lapse of concentration from A Wharton and Wahlstedt. Don’t think Southampton have done anything close to enough to be going in 1-0 up. Possession football is tedious, most passes are between their CBs. Would have been happy to continue with this game plan, but we’ll need to alter the approach second half now. Hill, Tronstad and Moran have looked off their games today. Brittain experiment not yielding results. We’re going to get opportunities from our left, as Adam, Siggy and Szmodics all naturally drift out there, so I expect to see that second half. Not over, Russell Martin teams have mistakes in them. Quote
rovers11 Posted December 16, 2023 Posted December 16, 2023 Worst 45 of the season. No effort, desire, or belief. Not one player believes we can get a result today based on the body language from minute one. 1 Quote
yankfan Posted December 16, 2023 Posted December 16, 2023 Really poor first half. JDT got it wrong but not sure he has an option to get it right. Brittain and Hill have been outmatched on the right. I’d say we were second best, but that would be fining us too much credit. Quote

We broke well ball came to his feet and he just gave the ball away cheaply when he had time. Won’t make the big time sadly, prefer Dolan. Quote
OldEwoodBlue Posted December 16, 2023 Posted December 16, 2023 This keeper is a bit shit. Not on the Jason Steele scale of shitness but shit all the same. Quote
booth Posted December 16, 2023 Posted December 16, 2023 Cheering me up is the Southampton commentary. We've had Hill called Callum Brittain for 30 minutes. Andrew Moran called John Moran. And finally, we've just been called Bristol Rovers. I'm sure it's an AI bot. 6 Quote

It's a slight GK error but more blame is on Wharton. Obvious what their guy was trying to do so you gotta be wise to it and muscle him out of the way. Instead, both Wharton and Leo were taken out of the game. Quote

roversfan99 Posted December 16, 2023 Posted December 16, 2023 Not a pleasant watch. Weve been totally dominated and have offered absolutely nothing. We keep giving the ball away. Weak goalkeeping for the goal. Brittain is not a winger, Hill has been all over the shop out of position at full back and we dont have a striker on the pitch. With our record when conceding first and nothing on the bench, it doesnt bode well. Quote
AllRoverAsia Posted December 16, 2023 Posted December 16, 2023 27% possession to us. I am amazed it's so much. Play deep, don't press, hope and pray...those are our tactics. Quote

And the fact no one else attempts to win a ball with their head played 1 yard from goal at knee height. Wharton is wrong side, Leo should be able to get to it, but someone else should get a head on it. 1 Quote
