martonrover Posted December 30, 2023 Posted December 30, 2023 We do not have a manager. We have a head coach who selects players bought by a very iffy director of football. There is a big difference. 4 Quote

Popular Post arbitro Posted December 30, 2023 Popular Post Posted December 30, 2023 I thought last night was the best we have played for some weeks. At times our intensity and quick passing was too much for Hull. But as has become the recent norm we just keep shooting ourselves in the foot. Defensive mistakes which are of a schoolboy nature are killing us. I really don't know how any manager can legislate for the type of errors we are making. Hull didn't have to really work for any of their goals as they were offered up by the ineptitude of our players. Hyam was shocking and getting stupidly sent off summed up his night as his calamitous defending for the first goal and his culpability with Hill for the second gave us a mountain to climb. But we got back in it and teams normally have the momentum when coming back from two down but at the back of my mind was our propensity to give away soft goals. And so it came to pass that we couldn't deal with a floated corner from which nobody was prepared to deal with. Rather than that some of them looked at each other and not one player took and responsibility. That really knocked the stuffing out of us. We are in the results business ultimately and rightly questions will be asked of Tomasson, his tactics and team selection but surely every can should consider the context and circumstances under which he is working. Ultimately the real criticism should be for these horrible people who own us and for the freeloaders and wasters they employ. They are the real problem. 27 Quote

I think a vast majority of the posters on here who are critical of JDT have taken that into consideration. I maybe wrong but I think most people accept he’s not got much to work with but are concerned by his apparent unwillingness to try something else tactically. 12 Quote

BigBar Posted December 30, 2023 Posted December 30, 2023 Summed up easily. The problem is shit owners, shit board and a manager with a nice football philosophy but limited tactical ability and nous. JDT appears to be a lovely man and probably great company and likeable. Owners and board seem rotten to the core, shady and corrupt. It is not a good combo whatever way you square it. 2 Quote

Popular Post Parsonblue Posted December 30, 2023 Popular Post Posted December 30, 2023 Whilst I thought it was a much better performance than of late the fact remains that we have now lost 14 games before the turn of the year. Whilst we continue to give soft goals away whilst we offer little threat in attack once we get into the final third of the pitch. Even at 2-0 down, I still thought last night's game was winnable but we simply haven't got the firepower to see off what I thought was a fairly average Hull side. We continue to overplay in the wrong areas and defensively we look shambolic at times. Those things are down to JDT and he needs to sort them out sooner rather than later. However, I'm not sure what any coach/manager is supposed to do when he continually asks for experienced players to be signed and is given so called 'development' projects to coach. We are crying out for a 30+ centre-back who can organize the defence. We need an experienced centre-forward with a proven goalscoring record. We need a couple of full-backs who can actually defend instead of sauntering upfield and continually getting caught out of position. We need an experienced goalkeeper who can give confidence to those in front of him. League wise, the season looks over. I believe we will get enough points to keep clear of relegation worries but will be nowhere near the top six spots. Attendances will dwindle and next season we will do it all over again with the same result but with possibly a different head coach. 13 Quote

Too easy again for the opposition and this coach and team haven't got the first clue how to dig out any sort of result. Shithouse CEO and Shadowman, tax dodging owners and a welk for a coach. The End. Ey. The rest might be true but you leave the coach out of it. It’s state of the art Al have you know 😂 Quote

I don’t agree Cooper is a cheque book manager but he inherited a Chris Houghton team that had been assembled for well over £20m if memory serves me correctly. I remember them bringing on Joao Carvalho against us, he was £13m on his own! Massive money for a championship club. Edited December 30, 2023 by Gav 1 Quote
Mattyblue Posted December 30, 2023 Posted December 30, 2023 (edited) Cooper took somebody else’s players and he picked them up when bottom of the league. But anyway an absolutely pointless discussion from a Blackburn Rovers point of view. Edited December 30, 2023 by Mattyblue 1 Quote

On our arse yet no start for Ennis and he throws on Telavich and Markanday, 4 changes yet still play the same way. Yes we are weak as piss but the selection and tactics are down to him. Again i thought we were ok yesterday but the same old stuff undid us and there just isn't any nous on the sidelines i'm afraid when we really need some. Quote
JHRover Posted December 30, 2023 Posted December 30, 2023 Forest, like Hull, wanted promotion from this league asap. Hence serious investment in improvements. Whatever Rovers want it isn't promotion, claiming so is an insult to those who actually try. 6 Quote

Yes he shouldn't get away with no responsibility either. Every game he's sat there with his notes looking like someone who has just turned up to do an assessment for a third party. Then further across the bench we have Lowe sat there looking confused, wtf do these lot offer apart from putting cones out for the warm up ? I might be wrong but weren't Sheff Weds a bit rubbish when Remi was there ? Continental coach, continental style, pleasing on the eye when it works but creating your own problems when it doesn't and it's going to need to change here. Quote

Then again i reckon most teams owned by billionaires would go down to Southampton and stay over the night before. Did our lot or did they spend the day on the luxury bus we don't own ? Quote
chaddyrovers Posted December 30, 2023 Author Posted December 30, 2023 Its good to read from people who attend that we had some of our intensity back and were quick passing back again. Yes confidence will be down but the defending for all 3 goals is awful and I would expect better from Hill and Hyam to be honest. Hyam's red card is stupid and seems to be down to frustration more than owt. Expect better from our Captain We scored 2 good goals and at half time I would have happy taken a point and 2-2 from the game. Good to hear Telalovic had a good game and Kevin Gallagher on Radio Lancs was full of praise for his performance. He was critical of Markanday performance and "his words was Flattered to deceived" Tronstad seem to have a good game which again is good. On Travis not playing at all, I wonder if we are going to look to sell him in January Quote
