Popular Post smiller14 Posted January 20, 2024 Popular Post Posted January 20, 2024 The real problem is upstairs, but I'm growing more and more convinced we would benefit from JDT walking, at least in the short term. The players don't seem to be playing for him, the heads are down, the atmosphere poor. I'm glad he tried to change shape today which at least indicated some sort of care and wish to address the issues, but the same issues persist. We are wide open and it was another very poor result. He will do well somewhere, but overall I'm pretty disenchanted with him. A good league finish last year, but there have been many issues. Late throwaways, the surrender at Turf Moor, inability to react to going behind and this season's absolute kamikaze football. He's been dealt an absolutely crap hand but we look completely bereft of ideas and confidence. This defence was much better last year but we have completely departed from it this year. 10 Quote

BankEnd Rover Posted January 20, 2024 Posted January 20, 2024 Let’s not forget our goal was gifted to us. We are creating f all at the moment and our defence is as worse as it’s ever been. These players are 100% not playing for the manager - Szmodics fuming walking down the tunnell. Not good. 3 Quote

I’m surprised he’s still here to be honest. If he's given up he's never going to make it as a manager, hope there's more to him than that other wise he is done. That said this run and the teams total inability to get back into games when we go behind since he arrived does suggest he is the epitomy of a fair weather manager. 2 Quote

yankfan Posted January 20, 2024 Posted January 20, 2024 I didnt see but 2 players who had the quality needed for a championship side. A Wharton, JRC were it today. The other 16 to step on the pitch looked like imposters. 3 Quote

If you were part of the footballing side you're probably asking yourself, If they don't give a shit, then why should I? It's not excusable, but frankly whatever management team and playing squad are in front of us, over time they will eventually feel the same, as long as Wankytesh still own us. It’s just the same as in any other walk of life. If the top management are disinterested or detached from what’s going on at the coalface gradually the malaise spreads throughout the workforce. That applies to whatever organisation you care to name. Zombie mananagement leads to zombie players and a zombie club. 11 Quote
SpaceBarSlam Posted January 20, 2024 Posted January 20, 2024 Watching that backline in injury time and Scott Wharton was the one organising the team. I have a lot of time for Hyam and think his recent shakiness is down to being rushed back from injury, but a natural captain he isn't. 1 Quote
booth Posted January 20, 2024 Posted January 20, 2024 Some positives are that Pears was an upgrade on Wahlstad. Adam Wharton played well, nicked the ball off the defender and took his goal well. JRC looked decent when he came on but unfit, how we've missed him emerging from his defence to give their defenders something to think about. Hyam was better today too. We're still playing without a proper striker. The one masquerading as one put in the least amount of effort to defend. The tallest man on the pitch made himself the smallest at the most crucial of moments and it's 1-1. Then he was downed in the box, a certain penalty, but the referee waved it away. Two defenders down injured. The one to Carter seemed to really affect us, which was bizarre as we rightly didn't change shape or tactics. Heads seemed to drop simply because Carter got injured. 2 Quote

SuperBrfc Posted January 20, 2024 Posted January 20, 2024 We were fortunate to get a point as Huddersfield missed a couple of great chances. We huffed and puffed but never looked like winning it, as we did not create a real chance. What is alarming is how open we look at the back when our attacks break down. It's wild football at times, piling too many forward and not being able to get back in sufficient numbers. I couldn't believe what I was seeing as a Huddersfield forward went rampaging down our left on the counter, free as you like, a completely free run into the box! He was played in on goal but luckily for us, skewed it wide. We look extremely vulnerable to counter attacks. Look at the Huddersfield chance in the first half. One ball puts their striker through just inside the halfway line and he runs clear into our box! Any half decent team in the Championship will take advantage of this bad setup. JDT has to walk, imo. It's just not working out. The whole environment from the top down is wrong. A toxic, aimless, gutless setup. An agents playground, where winning means little. JDT arrived here in the wrong era and under the wrong people. Not his fault on that front. The club is not what he probably remembers it as being from his playing days in England. I don't know if he is reluctant to walk away because he walked away at a previous club. Maybe he doesn't want to gain a reputation for quitting? I wouldn't blame him for walking. It's probably best all round that he does. Well, it's not, because we will still have the same shit owners and yes men in the Boardroom, but something has to give to try and change these poor results. 1 Quote

Does Scott Wharton have BO or something? Five minutes later we do concede a goal. 1 Quote
