Oh another one 😁

I did that’s why I posted it. Try going back a season from Hollywood FC’s first one here…

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2020–21_Wrexham_A.F.C._season

Thats not our Wiki page for starters, blindingly obvious even if you just look at the link you posted and if you read literally the opening sentence it says: Wrexham A.F.C. was the football club's 156th season.

Here it is; https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wrexham_A.F.C.

Always happy to educate - I'm not offended either. Just some fans on this thread were asking why some of our fans 'have a bee in their bonnet' etc and its guff like this which is most likely why.

Why not try and enlighten us.

Don't have to take offence, but some of us don't know everything about clubs that have been 3 leagues apart for the most part.

Other than the recent hype.

Where do you think you're headed? Lots of talk about attendances, but with a 13k stadium, we're struggling to survive in Championship with 14/15k figures.

So how do you reach higher than League 1 with FFP constraints?

Maybe we could have an adult chat instead of picking fights. Just a thought.

Just did on another post. 🙂Happy to have a grown up conversation. 👍

I think we'll reach the championship eventually but I'll be happy in League One. When I started watching us in the 90's we were (in the main) a League One club although before my time we were once a Championship club (in the equivalent league) and have had European exploits too.

I think we'll be in League One for a while as there are some much bigger clubs in that league than us who are spending big.  We may initially struggle there.

We're signing three players in this window apparently who will improve our side considerably, so we should go up this season.

FFP isn't an issue, we have big name sponsors, US tour in pre season, the documentary and sell out every week. Our board said this before the season started that FFP won't be an issue. Our turnover has increased significantly, shirts & merchandise sell out extremely quickly etc. Our owners have stated that if we reach the Championship there will be a different approach/plan in place to compete. My gut instinct tells me they already have additional investors lined up. They are fully aware it will take major investment.

By that time I expect we'll have a new Kop making our capacity around 15,500. They have already said thats just the start and the rest of the stadium will be developed too. So by the time, IF, we reach the championship our capacity could be 20k plus.

I don't think you read the original post properly.

It hadn't actually dawned on me that those figures went into your revenue.

For the bog boys that did it - Man City Spurs etc- was probably relative peanuts.

But at your current level I'm guessing that's a big chunk.

No he didn’t. So as I said before he jumped in no Wrexham season pre Hollywood has a Wiki page. Glad to ‘educate’ him though..

Do you know what, you're right, we might as well shut the club down and give up given your totally meaningful, ground breaking and relevant revelation. Damn. It was just getting good too.

Tell you what though, all is not lost, show your posts to the next attractive young lady you meet and she will not be able to keep her hands off you.

He didn’t read a post properly and got the wrong end of the stick, we all do it as you skim through threads, and that’s his response. 😁

Oddest set of opposition fans we’ve had on here surely… and I include Dingles.

I normally say this on far different types of games, but for once don't fuck this up Rovers. They have only won 4 out of 13 games away from home, and got spanked at Stanley.

This reminds me a little bit of league one when we played Oldham and suddenly this major, heated Lancashire rivalry from the past resurfaced with frothing Oldham fans all over social media and a police escort to the ground.

I know this game isn't a rivalry but it's the same weird reaction from a nondescript fanbase (to us).

How many times have you watched us out of interest? Its nonsense like this which gets fans backs up. A basic brand of football - whatever that means - is currently allowing us to win far more games than we lose.

I didn't say there was anything wrong with basic football so I don't know why you have taken such offense to it. But your style is basic you are a direct team (like most of Parkinson's team) who like to play for set pieces be it throw ins, corners etc to launch into the box, there is not much free flowing football from you.

There is nothing wrong with playing to your strengths and it is working for you in your league although let's be honest you should be doing well in your league considering your budget. But you are playing a 2nd tier team on Monday and you will need to show something more, you were very lucky to get past Shrewsbury in the last round and this will be a significant step up from Shrewsbury for you.

carter out for 3 months and pickering out for 5 weeks, both with hamstring issues, add hedges to the hamstring blight as well,is there an issue with to much physical training??,we should`nt need to go full pelt at each other every day ,at this stage of the season everybody should be match fit and ticking over,i think jdt is over taxing them in training

You’re right. Shrewsbury had more than enough chances to put it in the back of the net but weren’t clinical enough.

If this was at our place I’d fancy us a bit more but after some recent dismal showings away I’m not confident. However, we do tend to step it up for these types of games. We’ll have to really for any chance of going through and hope you’re having an off day.

Just hope we put on a show for the 7000+ travelling and don’t go out with a whimper. Magic of the cup etc etc

Well this has all gotten a bit fruity.

If I may add a few observations of my own from an away perspective….

Firstly, regarding Wrexham fans being disappointed with the draw. I don’t think there was any disrespect but let’s face it, any lower league club wants to play one of the really massive clubs. And it’s not just about league position – for example Leeds would have been a bigger tie for us than say Brighton, Brentford or Bournemouth. Surely that would be the same for you guys?

As a side note, I hadn’t really given any thought to the size of Blackburn as a town before. Having had a squint at Wikipedia I have to say that even with Jack Walker’s money you punched miles above your weight in the 90s.

Secondly, the member-measuring competition around attendances that football fans are obsessed with these days. Yes Wrexham had some dire attendances in the dark days. But pretty much any club with a half decent fan base (so not Salford) will see attendances rise when a) the club becomes more successful or b) (at least for smaller clubs) for a cup run. The added dimension for Wrexham is obviously the Hollywood thing, but those guys knew what they were doing. They understood that the potential was there for attendances to rise significantly and they tapped into it. And despite the online “banter” it really isn’t due to 8000 yanks rocking up every week. (Oh, and a factual correction, Wrexham get nothing directly from the Disney series, but obviously benefit massively from the opportunities that brings in terms f merchandising, sponsorship and so on).

Also we do have a bit more history than some give us credit for. We took nearly 20,000 to Old Trafford in 1969, not many fewer to Anfield the following year and 15,000 to a place called Burnley in 1974. That last one was hardly a glamour tie.

Finally, why does nobody seem to talk about the actual match anymore? Personally, I think we’ll need a great performance, along with luck a Blackburn off day to get anything. We needed a 3 goal start and a red card at Coventry last year and were hanging on for dear life. Just my opinion.

Anyway, see you Monday. Or as we say in Wrexham, “see you Monday la”.

“cock wombles” – Ha! love it.

I got my ticket at Ewood today, let's hope we get into top gear and make it to the 5th round. it might boost the teams confidence for the up and coming Q.P.R. and Stoke games in the Championship. Great news Tyris Dolan wants to take part in Monday nights tie, we're beginning to get the injured back in contention.

Over a week to rest and prepare should help and a strong side and good performance in this could be just the tonic needed at the min.

Even if it's a temporary respite from the league and financial issues i'm sure the need for a win and money spinner in the next round won't go unmentioned.  Although to be fair even this one helps not many league 2 clubs are selling 7k and bringing their own local tv to live broadcast it.

Pity we have to give them a third of the cash though !

The Wrexham director Shaun Harvey comes across as very dislikable.  I bet him and Swaggott would get on well.

By the way, you all should watch ‘It’s always sunny in Philadelphia’. If you’re into that kind of humour you’ll find it very funny. They’re all such a complete bunch of horrible bastards 😂

The thing is inevitably you see light at the end of tunnel with the prospect of seemingly a fully fit squad and a few have come back in the last week or 2 but inevitably you will almost always have at least a couple of players unavailable and as some come back, 2 are out long term now. Im also not sure what the situation is with Hedges who seemed to be in line at one point to return before 2 or 3 of the recent returnees that have leapfrogged him.
