Devon Rover Posted Friday at 14:52 Posted Friday at 14:52 The bit that did annoy me in that statement was about the "two way engagement" with fan groups. As an outsider, this looks like a complete backfiring strategy, once again, of some 'fan representatives' holding conversations with Waggott/Suhail. If you keep doing this, you will be used, with your "engagement" held up in propaganda as wonderful positive work by our exec team. Those conversations are clearly doing more harm than good. Overall, the statement avoids the main (Venkys) issue and is exactly the bland and dismissive response that was always inevitable. Which, I guess, moves us to the next actions that everyone involved in the media push today will have prepared for. How do we move forward with this, and how can we all support that? 7 Quote

Neal Posted Friday at 14:57 Posted Friday at 14:57 (edited) I take my hat's off to you all. Nice to see there are still some willing to fight. The response of certain fans STILL after all these years are a big reason as to why I've made my decision to stay away and protest in my own way by encouraging others to not buy season tickets. These will be the same fans who were giving me shit as I stood there on my own in the Riverside with my Kean Out banner which was I think the first spark of the protests over 10 years ago. This is why physical protests (IMO) haven't worked and still won't work. These fans won't stand shoulder to shoulder with you. They will do the opposite. These people you will never get through to. They are how they are. Set in their ways. Will forever be shit on and say thanks. I envy and pity them at the same time. My personal opinion is to choose the most effective protest, which some may not agree with, not to try and get a protest to please everyone because it's not possible to bring everyone together, as romantic as it sounds we have to learn that it's not realistic. We have to learn from our previous efforts, a few banners, a few chants, protests weaker than those over a decade ago... Won't make a difference. I've seen the statement on sky. I mean this in the most respectful way as someone who stood with many of you in protests back in the day... What's the goal here? They stay away, then what? They still own the club, they still cut costs, the downward spiral continues. Is the next step to advise fans to hurt them financially? No merch, food or season tickets? I think this is the only language they speak and the only way to truly hurt them. Doing this to put them in the spotlight unfortunately is a fleeting issue in the media, we're not a fashionable or big enough story anymore. To be clear, I saw a post from someone, not sure if it was aimed at me but... I'm not telling anyone to boycott, all I'm trying to do is encourage people to not buy season tickets. If you must go, at least don't spend money there. Fuck off Waggot, Pasha, Venkys and your season ticket to watch you slowly kill our club. NO SEASON TICKETS. NO MERCH. NO FOOD & DRINK. Popular Post Mattyblue Posted Friday at 14:59 Popular Post Posted Friday at 14:59 The Facebook responses are interesting, hardly a pro-regime one to be seen… contrast that to a few months ago. The tide has turned and they know it. 22 Quote

JHRover Posted Friday at 15:13 Posted Friday at 15:13 Neil Yardley's phone will be ringing off the hook this afternoon as Waggott/Gestede hurry to arrange an in-house interview to try and head off this anger and 'prove' their communication efforts via a comfy sit down chat at Brockhall. That's the usual way of it - once the fans discover a plot or anger is building then do a 10 minute planned interview and come out with a few of the typical soundbites to try and pacify the support base. 3 Quote

NO FOOD & DRINK. as many have mentioned on this thread Neal: Glen, Josh and co have now forced their hand in actively refusing the groups' 'respectful' wishes. Cameras on them for the rest of the season. It was their move, and what do you know, they s**t the bed. 2 Quote

The speed with which they've released the statement speaks volumes. And the beaty of the approach means that the inevitable bland club statement changes nothing, the heat is on them more than it ever will have been and nothing they can do or say will stop it. 3 Quote

I mean the opening move is checkmate in terms of their response - they can't come out and say "fair enough, we recognise we're a big part of the problem and we'll stay away". They'll massage the public message for a bit now - sit down interviews with Waggott and co, club statements etc. 4 Quote

Exactly, they cannot give one single example in 15 years of where they have driven the club forward. (unless you count promotion from the third tier, which was an absolute embarrassment they caused in the first place!!) 15 years of humiliation, zero progress. 14 Quote
cesus Posted Friday at 15:42 Posted Friday at 15:42 I always found Andy Cryer to be an asset with regards to speaking to national outlets. The LT have even more of a grievance now as the powers that be completely ignore them .... It is your chance to shine Mr Jackson. 3 Quote
Disgruntled Rover Posted Friday at 15:55 Posted Friday at 15:55 Hypothetically of course, similar to Reading's tennis ball protest, and as a symbol of the owners' other business interests, would eggs making their way onto the pitch be an effective way of promoting our cause? Shattered shell on the pitch would surely pose a danger to players and lead to the game being abandoned, or at least delayed, leading to nationwide or worldwide exposure of our plight. Quote

Easter is coming up. There are many things egg-related in the shops which wouldn't be a danger to complain about but would be the same theme. Should someone want to disrupt games, of course... Quote

If they're going to go anyway, they're spending more money by buying a ticket for every game than if they just bought a season ticket. Surely it's just boycott or don't. I'm not sure why season tickets specifically come into it? Quote

Financially. Quote

Because realistically we're not going to empty the ground, people will still go but maybe we can convince those people to at least not buy pints there and instead invest it in local pubs in the surrounding area and come at it from that angle. Reduce the income for them, make it harder for them to run/fund the club. Edited Friday at 16:41 by Neal Quote
