The club are trolling the whole Internet at the moment looking for a hook to prosecute ,

Much more interested in shutting down criticism of themselves than running the club properly.

The more desperate they get, the more we can feel we are winning.

In the interview, not a single offer made.

Not true. I knew someone would inaccurately quote that bit. Waggott said there has been no "concrete offers".

That's the same as when politicians accused of covering up a scandal, state "I'm unaware of any formal complaint."

Presumably when approached Venkys have said "no, we are not interested in selling." Thus things never preceded to the point of a concrete offer ever having been made.

Good win for the Boro
Great away support
Can't believe anyone would appoint Rudy Gestede as Head of football operations.
He was a total liability when he was at the Boro.
Everyone was over the moon when Neil Warnock kicked him out of the club even though his contract was not up
UTB
My advice to Blackburn fans get him out of your club

I absolutely can't stand Gestede. Some of the smug faces he pulls when he's interviewed really wind me up. He comes across as cocky and arrogant and I'm still not sure exactly what he does.

He does have an air of "the fans are stupid, leave this to the professionals" about him.

Yet, he is another person in charge at this club that cannot fathom that to grow the club, reduce a burden on any owner is that you have to be hot on player trading. The year of us maximising our outward player trading has seen us do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to recruit the next batch of players to sell. The plan this year has been to use that money to pay the bills, no club in the Championship can do that. The stooges never mention their woeful recruitment planning, letting valuable players leave for nothing, not renewing contracts but talk that the club loses £20m a year automatically.

Can we please return this thread to its original aim:-

“to discuss protest ideas so those in support can start taking positive action against the current state of the club and owners Venky’s & CEO Steve Waggott. Their short sighted and non-sensical business decisions are slowly killing BRFC from the inside out and it cannot be allowed to go on.”

I wrote this on 23rd January 2024, before JDT left, before Adam Wharton was sold. We’re now on our 2nd manager since then and not much has changed, in fact it has and is likely to get a lot worse. In fighting about who met who and when, what’s in the club accounts, how much we’ve made from player trading, attendance decline etc is largely irrelevant.

Let’s get back to the original aim of the thread, to get Venky’s out of OUR club.

“The ultimate aim is for Venky’s to sell the club to new owners who are present, communicate with the fans and have the best interests of the club & fans at heart AND the community it is part of.”

I'll look at setting up a filesharing link for the timeline and any other files so it's easily accessible.

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1lXkZ_O-dlwPjMGcmTQEAUYuDWUjr5U5_/view?usp=drivesdk

Think this should work. I'm a bit of a luddite. Anyone can view via link but not edit. As its all verifiable from published primary sources no risk to site that I see of any legal claims (mods hide if needed)

I've only uploaded your pdf, but longer term might be worth it's own thread so other can contribute to the timeline?

Nice to see Mullan now confirm his meeting with Waggott to the fans. Bizarre it wasn’t at the time. Lost a lot of credibility in my eyes.

He's lost zero credibility due to it being so obvious you're a Waggott plant.

Incidentally, how did you know of this meeting?

Didn’t quite hit the target those posts yesterday, did they, BnWA?

Never mind, I imagine you’ve been asked to stand down from future interventions! 😅

Sorry, the 20-24k I was alluding to was home fans only. The 16k I just posted, will take into account away fans. Again, no idea what the average, home fans only, figure would be.

The "number of fans" thing is a bit of a red herring when comparing us to other clubs. There's a whole host of factors that militate towards whether we have comparable attendances to them, not least town/city size, catchment area, recent performance, cultural demographic, ticket prices / affordability. Size of fanbase isn't a reason; Bournemouth, Brentford, even Luton recently managed it, why can't we?? Look at Wrexham now? Birmingham City, all clubs with historically low attendances & even less success / stature in the game, both likely to out-compete us next season. Even Wycombe have some major backing nowadays!

What's clear & public knowledge is that Rovers are now down to just 4,000 adult season ticket holders. The other 5,000 are concessions, most of which have gone up multiple times annual inflation for 2025/26. That can't be far off the lowest number since season tickets became a thing. Engagement from the club to the fanbase (and I mean proper engagement, not social media floweriness) is as low as I can remember in the modern era, even going so far as to say that no more effort is going to be made to re-engage lapsed matchgoers; apathy rules, and being blunt that's myself included too, especially on Friday night, I was just too disheartened to get angry).

These owners have undone EVERYTHING that Jack achieved, short of knocking down Ewood (but which is slowly decaying before our very eyes anyway due to lack of necessary maintenance) & cancelling the Academy. There are no signs of that changing under them. We're a zombie club with no drive, plan, strategy or direction amongst the board or owners.

Is there any other club whose owner(s) has not attended in over a decade? That just says it all, whilst presiding over 2 relegations & not 1 single play off qualification berth to get back into the PL? If they can't be bothered coming, when money is no why should any fan who feels that their club, a fsmily & community hub steeped in pride & history in the global game, has been stolen from them?

The status quo just cannot continue, and that starts with these owners realising they've locked everything up & that the decent things to do are either sell up to someone who does care (ideally), or at the very least appeal to the fans for forgiveness, appoint proper people at Ewood who know football & their roles as custodians of the club (i.e. not outside agencies), and give them the support and autonomy to start driving the club forwards again & stop this sleepwalking existence into oblivion.

It is true. Which is strange as haven’t they heard of ‘massively increased operating costs’

What billionaire owners are generally for unless they are from Pune and just prefer to enjoy executing the slow and painful death of a once proud football club !

Not exactly what you're seeking but valuable all the same. The link to the story I posted above is worth opening if you havn't.

There were about 230 comments on the BBC's account of our Boro loss at the time I posted. What struck me was the sympathy extended to us by fans of other clubs (not Burnley though! but there was a Preston one!) These fans can see what we are going through and warmly wish us the best in taking on Venkys.

That's worth a lot to me. They understand better than some of our own fans! But we are not alone.

Time to get an MP/ex-MP or two on board again I think. MP's speaking in parliament cannot be sued remember.

Forty years ago, we had a similar chairman to the Venky's who sold off our best players and ran us into the ground. We got lucky after staring into the abyss. Hope Rovers fans don't have the same experience and find someone else with Jack's passion

So other fans from other clubs knew Jacks passion and love for the club, we can't our current owners see it means everything to us.
Big public response and warm messages feels like the word is getting round

Something i noticed recently was a lot more fans of other clubs chipping in with anti Venky comments rather than the usual derogatory ones against Rovers.

Derby, Chelsea, Everton, Stoke and even the odd dingle & knobber saying i love this but wouldn't want them anywhere near running my club.

Pity the borolad who plays at being a CEO isn’t as sympathetic

Like i mentioned on another thread the difference between listening to a podcast with the Plymouth CEO and ours is like night and day.

All these pillocks here do is shield the ownership and protect their own backsides and if it costs another thousand fans then so be it.

Hit 4 mill income, their wages, jobs and perks sorted for another year, that's how they roll.

I reckon for the first time in 15 years the top people at Ewood are worried about the direction the club is heading, the way fans are reacting and how attendances are falling. All thanks to Glen and most of the fans groups putting on a united front.

It just has to be obvious to anyone with even the remotest idea of how professional football clubs operate that surviving simply by bringing through youngsters, selling them and reinvesting none of that money into the squad cannot ever succeed. A club can’t survive like that never mind prosper.

Waggott and co deep down know it. So far none of them have the balls to face down the owners over it. Time for them to stand up for the overriding good of Blackburn Rovers FC. If they don’t, they deserve everything they get.
