John Eustace - our head coach

I think Eustace would be an ideal fit for WBA and I think he'd be very interested if they approached him.

Knows the Championship inside out, done well on limited resources in two jobs, still based in the Midlands.

He'd get a move to a proper club, a pay rise, a better budget, be much nearer to home and work for professionals rather than amateurs.

They'd also get the added bonus of taking us, currently a direct rival for a top 6 position, out of the equation overnight.

It seems however that they fancy the overseas head coach route which I think is a big gamble but can see why they want it with Corberan doing so well for them and their new American ownership structure.

I think the accent is less likely to be off-putting to them - so I hope the gold chain and the tracksuit works it's magic and they go for a suave chino-clad Italian instead.

We need someone to point out how much he says "you know" to them in media interviews. Once you hear it you can't unhear it.

Might have missed it but I don't remember hearing any in his pre and post match Burnley offerings. Sounded a lot more fluent. Might have been doing some media training.

Can't believe anyone regards that as an issue in the first place.

Is JE still on a 12 month rolling contract? If so that needs to change

Thought he was given a 2 and a half year deal when he joined. Might be wrong on that so someone please confirm or otherwise.

As he was out of work at the time and knowing our lot I wouldn't have thought he's on a particularly generous wage relatively speaking.

Looks like you're correct, which is good news (for once, with our lot!)

Not really - out of contract end of next season - needs an extended deal on decent money imo.

Agreed, but better than the 12mth rolling as was suggested. There'd only be a month left on that so wouldn't exactly put anyone off regarding any compensation payments.

😂 Agreed, it grates, (and I rate him), but if that’s what’s putting other clubs off, ie that he’s John from Solihull not Carlos or Raphael, then I’ll put up with it 🙂

If he was on a 12 month rolling contract it would always have 12 months left on it - until notice was served.

Some journo reckons JE would welcome a move to WBA:

BBC journalist Lepkowski said: “Now, I don’t know whether John Eustace will be pursued in an official capacity, whether they will approach Blackburn and go for him.

Again, I know there has been some form of dialogue and I know that John Eustace, who still lives in the West Midlands, would probably welcome a move, I believe."

That’s from a naughty click bait article,(the article, not your post), with a headline which made me believe he’d virtually gone!

It’s one of two or three doing the rounds today, and Eustace is still well fancied in the betting stakes.

We need Wicksy to hurry up and sign on the dotted line!

It does appear as if he has marginally improved.

That headline was horrendous wasn't it  - said

"Eustace to go to WBA after talks"

when the actual story was

"BBC journalist claims on his podcast that Eustace would entertain a move to WBA if they made a formal approach for him, which they so far haven't."

You’d think that but if you actually succumb to the click bait (as I did 😁) you’ll see they’re saying Potter is set to be appointed at West Ham.

I didn't click on it totally misleading title west brom / west ham

These click baity headlines on Internet stories are horrendous and are very formulaic

They'll say  for example "Tyson Fury or Luke Littler "loses" large chunk of Usyk money or Darts prize" creating the impression they've gambled it away or made a disastrous investment which has gone South, when in fact if you waste a few seconds of your life clicking on the article it only says that they've been taxed on their earnings like everyone else.

That lad who did the "Eustace to go to West Brom after talks" headline seems particularly bad as he also did the West Brom headline which was actually about West Ham.

The West Brom links aren't going away and he has shortened markedly in the betting markets. I fear JE may well be enticed away in the next week or so especially when the reality dawns that he's getting little backing in the window.

Really hope I'm wrong.

I very much fear if we lost Eustace. The last two appointments have been good tbf, even though JDT eventually lost his way. But we know from experience we usually recruit cheap plodders and that can't work out too often.

This squad, IMO, is equally as capable of entering a relegation dogfight under the wrong manager as it is of competing for the playoffs under the right one.
