RoverInverness Posted January 9 Posted January 9 (edited) Eustace clearly has more about him away from a microphone. In front of one, it seems to me, that his objective is to say very, very little at all and to just get through the minutes without revealing anything. I really struggle to pay attention to him speaking in interviews, he comes across, imo, as someone making white noise. He can not be like this in the dressing room or he wouldn’t have the players on board - largely (Siggy, Buckley and maybe JRC aside) - in the way he does and he wouldn’t have this side so well drilled if he was that dull all the time. Perhaps in a similar way, I used to think Kenny was deliberately indecipherable in front of a microphone. I don’t think he cared for being interviewed and that was his way of getting his own back on having to do all that bollocks. I will always love JDT for being so open about what an absolute tool Waggot was to work with. However, Eustace is cautious, pragmatic, professional and experienced in seemingly everything he does. Fair play to him for that. I’m not convinced he’s staying, not convinced he’s committed to working with these clowns and ultimately, if he goes, that is as damming on the Waggot/Pasha regime as any of JDT’s brutal honesty. I just hope WBA do not see sense and that we can get a chance at a top six finish and some end of season excitement/inevitable heartbreak before we have to roll the dice again. Luton are in the market for a new manager now. Quote
norwichblue Posted January 9 Posted January 9 Odds on SkyBet for baggies manager suggesting we’re safe from them poaching Eustace for the time being. Lengthened out from 5/2 second favourite to 10/1 now (behind 3 other candidates) 1 Quote

lraC Posted January 9 Posted January 9 I spoke directly to a scout of a current championship side, yesterday, who is also a former player and pretty well connected. He told me WBA had made an approach and the compensation figure there were quoted, put them off, as they were not prepared to pay it. I suspect that is why, he has now drifted, but I can imagine he will not be too pleased, given the likely pay rise and move to a club closer to home. I am pretty sure that is accurate, knowing the person who told me, as well as I do. 2 Quote

JHRover Posted January 9 Posted January 9 Opportunity missed in WBA not coming in for Eustace. A lump sum compensation payment that would have been useful and a ready made excuse for not strengthening in January and sliding away from the promotion conversation gone. Oh well, back to the 'admin error' it is. 1 Quote

chaddyrovers Posted January 9 Author Posted January 9 Its no surprise that WBA having come after Eustace tbh. I always felt they would go foreign and all 3 favourites are out of work head coaches Quote

A quick 2 million in compo, procrastinate until the end of the window before appointing Rob Edwards and a ready made excuse for no incoming transfers. 'We did all we can' 1 Quote

'We did all we can' I mean, if we did lose Eustace at some point (I sincerely hope we don't) and Edwards was still available we could do a lot worse. Quote

I think we now have another manager, who no longer really wants to be here, who has his hands tied behind his back due to the lack of transfer activity. Eustace is no mug and knows his reputation will suffer, if we start to drop down the league after this window. Whether he comes out and has a go after this window, remains to be seen, but just like the fans, but for different reasons, he will almost certainly be deflated at the end of the window. 2 Quote
roversfan99 Posted January 13 Posted January 13 West Brom are no longer appointing Wicky after issues with his backroom team. Wonder if theyll come for Eustace. Quote

Did Pete Beale not fancy moving to the Midlands ? On a serious note, this is a worrying development. Quote

Think we'll have to hope that the fact WBA seemingly don't want to pay compensation for anyone will save us. 1 Quote
