was he one of the "senior players" at the meet? @J*B

Yep, he was.

Funny story, I originally hide this image when it was posted here, but it has since been posted elsewhere so I’m happy to upload it now. This was sent to me as a tip by a friend and was taken by the staff at the hotel, who thought it was the ‘new manager meeting the players’. Turns out it was the supporters meeting and I was actually in the meeting!

Ryan seemed nice enough, Dom Hyam and Sam Gallagher were certainly most engaged. Although I did enjoy Aynsley Pears asking our CEO why we don’t just reduce the cost of tickets if they’re unaffordable.

The style of play has been pretty awful so far but it's all about results at the moment so I don't really mind. We were heading down playing pretty football under JDT; I'd rather stay up and play ugly football under Eustace.

I don't think it will be until next season that we see the style Eustace wants to play. It's very much back to basics at the moment which we need to try and get out of this situation. The problem is, we're not very good at the basics as that was coached out of the team.

We're fortunate that there are a lot or very bad teams between us and the relegation places. This season is our worst one since we were last relegated from the championship, no doubt about that.

I actually think our first 11 when everyone is fit is half decent. It's the squad that is dreadful.

Whatever the transfer budget is (probably derisory) I’d rather Eustace is able to access it directly, rather than relying on Broughton.

We clearly need a mixture of the two. I concede that we desperately needed bodies in the last transfer window and couldn't afford to think about long term development or sellability, but in the long run we'll never go anywhere if we exclusively keep going for the Flecks and Fazackerleys of this league. Academy players and buying cheap young talent from places where everyone else isn't looking and developing them to sell on with a big profit is the only way to go if we're hoping to go anywhere in this league or above.

So you were there yesterday and I wan't for a Championship match - what do you want, a feckin Blue Peter badge?

When you've watched the Rovers in shit holes like Tranmere, Halifax, Chesterfield and Mansfield in the old Third Division on cold Friday nights / Saturday afternoons then you have earned your colours.

'Rovers till I die' - hope there's a bit more to your life than Rovers!  This shower of sh1te are simply not worth it.

In chaddy's defence, another year or two and he'll have clocked up most of those venues.

I simply do not rate or trust Broughton.

Another window like last Summer and we are sure to go down (even if we survive this season).

I would be prepared to give Eustace (or another DOF) the benefit of the doubt.

He has to be allowed to bring his own players in if GB is still here he needs to be working on behalf of the head coach not the other way around.

It should be but i think we've seen he isn't up to that task he needs to be told who to go and get and not just box tick for the squad as he sees fit.

Is he?

I remain hopeful and he deserves more time to get his system in place, but so far I see a reduction in our attacking threat with little improvement defensively. If anything, he's just benefited from having a slightly fitter squad than the one that JDT was dealing with for the final 5-10 matches of his tenure.

Agree on the fact that the change is really nothing spectacular: players returning to fitness and a percentage game for now. Fine if needs must. Numpties in charge desperate to survive this season.

So SWAG back in control although there could still be a power battle in the family as there has been for some time. Narrative all on track for now, fans pleased to see no tippy tappy, new project, let's kick on next season, let's give JE time, we're moving forward together......blah, yuk, yada.....

SWAG will have to be back pulling strokes in the summer as the budget is slashed further and the courts come knocking. Let's see how JE goes then.

Is this your way of saying that Sammie wanted to be anywhere else but at that meeting?! His body language certainly looks like it.

I mean, we’ll let him off given he’s our only decent player now.

£300k a year and Waggott still can't get a tailored suit. Bloody hell.

Who could succeed in this climate?

He's sold £22m+ of players this year and only been allowed to spend £1.5m, on top of having his wage budget cut by 30%.

It's obviously very difficult to deal in the market under these circumstances, but at least have someone who has the slightest clue doing the job.

The guy is massively out of his depth imo.

Was it that much?

Wahlsted in the summer for £800-900K

Telalovic for what cant be more that £100K

O'Riorden in the winter for an undisclosed amount.  Which we can deduce is less than the £500K release clause he apparently had because of the amount of negotiating time Rovers had with Crewe (I heard that we ended up paying about £100K up front and threw in a sell on fee to get it done)

Everyone else was frees and loans (although there were probably loan fees) unless I am missing someone

Goes up in my estimation - not least because it sounds like he was the only one with a bit of shame in his body but also willing to admit it wasn’t all JDT (“we were shit against huddersfield!”)

It would be interesting to know how many players GB has been told “no” by the board/sw/lunatics/fat barry/madam and the shadow and just what his instructions are since the events in summer…

Only then can we judge him fairly

Do wonder if Eustace wishes Ennis was still around (at least for this season)

At least four deals have not gone through under his tenure.

Three of them were quite crucial to our progression. Given that one of them we know was scuttled by the owners and the other three were "administrative errors" I'd reckon there's way way more than we know about.

Weird interview. He claims Eustace as a breath of fresh air whilst saying how all good over 2 plus years until December 2023.

Apart from sloppy he doesn't admit that he personally made a FU for the PNE equaliser, but I wouldn't expect him too.

He's just another senior wheeled out to feed BS from the "group" to the masses.

Usually I ignore this shit but I'm tired of these cretins dissing a departed manager just because a twat called Waggott tells them to.

And today’s installment is Pears bigging up Ben Benson…

Only SS left now but I have a sneaky suspicion that they are not finding him so eager to chat…

He reminds me of a guy who I used to know.  His only interests in life were drinking and watching rovers. I thought this guy needed to get more of a life. Sadly he passed away a few years ago

Yeh it's almost not even worth watching the noise coming out of the club now. Jdt was our shining light on the venkys bs.

There lies the problem, a shiny new director of football and his large recruitment entourage but we're still so reliant on the players who they inherited.

I dread to think where we'd be if they'd started their tenure from a weaker position.
