John Eustace - our head coach

Don’t be daft. Before the players downed tools on JDT he got 10 wins from 22 games with this squad. Admittedly he had Wharton but also had a lot of injuries and was forced to play Wahlstedt.

Eustace has come in to a run of very winnable games and has failed to win any. He had plenty of time to turn this around and still potentially does. On paper our defence is not the worst in the league, and we have the leagues top goal scorer. However Eustace approach has led to us scoring just 6 goals in 9 league games, against some of the lowest sides in the division.  He’s had plenty of time to turn this around and if we go down it’s because he has been a very poor manager.

It's certainly not the only reason.

Relegation has been the aim since the summer.

One way to achieve that is by selling your best players on the cheap and appointing a shit manager.

i don`t particularly think eustace is any good but we should give him a chance to see what he can do next year.as it stands i doubt any manager could get us out of the trouble we are in,we`re going down, lets see what he can do in a lower division

If we went down any sensible club would make a change. Here he will see out his contract regardless.

Of course some managers could prevent a side in 17th with was it a 7 point buffer with a third of the season left from going down.

I genuinely don't want to keep criticising him - as Rovers 'head coach', I want him to succeed as it means the club is succeeding.

But he's really not helped himself with some of the shite that's left his mouth so far.

replace the 'some' with 'all' and your are on the money

It’s just another abysmal decision this, made by a man who is simply not accountable for his actions.

We will not win today or on Saturday so from having a 7 point buffer it will be down to none this time next week.

No doubt he will still be telling us how proud he is of the players and how we don’t have any must win games, but that’s  par for the course with a loser and I’m afraid that’s what he is.

I am worried but giving Eustace benefit of the doubt.

The injury situation only eased recently and even then we lost Buckley and Gallagher.

A huge difference is JDT had a mini-worldie in the centre of the park in Wharton and Eustace hasn't.

Irrespective of the run in fixtures, I would rather be sitting in our position with our squad than where Huddersfield, Birmingham and Wednesday are this morning with their squads.

But I would swap Eustace for Rohl in a heartbeat...

JDT = 33 points out of 29 games = 1.14ppg = 52.44 ppg of 46 games

JE = 6 points out of 9 games = 0.66 ppg = 30.36 ppg out of 46 games

With a more favourable situation the present incumbent’s record is worse.

Think we will survive due to poorer teams than us.

But it won’t make a great deal of difference to SWAG or the owners. They have the narrative worked out either way (which will be peddled in local media and elsewhere).

We go down –it was JDTs fault for leaving us in a mess, we acted decisively, have a new manager, let’s kick on, get behind the team, let’s rebuild, we are fully committed …..

We stay up –we acted promptly despite a difficult situation, our new manager kept us up, let’s kick on, get behind the team, let’s rebuild, we are fully committed …..

You are 100% correct.

There are already fans even on here who will solely blame JDT if we go down, despite JEs pathetic points return.

Little mention is made of the players and scumbags like Scott Wharton and Brittain who have gone public with their criticism and IMHO they disrupted the dressing room.

In crybaby Wharton's case because he was not being selected, ignoring the plain fact he was useless, playing badly. Even on a good day he's barely Championship standard.

This set of fakes have a lot to answer for.

I like none of them.

I no longer listen to anything JE says. He went into the idiot room the day after he arrived.

I would have preferred JE if he had turned us down when Swagg came calling

Looks to me like we are tighter at the back but now not so effective up front.  Our 2nd half performamce, from what I saw, offered a little promise some hope.  Our keepers thiugh Lord Almighty they stink.  What was Pears doing? I mean really.  I just do not have a good feel about JE. Seems so run of the mill bang average at the moment.  Very 3rd Divisionesque.

Essentially that's been my problem with any manager appointed since the owners and their cohorts stuck the knife in Big Sam's back.

They all start with a black mark for taking a job with vermin.

My approach has been invariably correct, I'm a 65+ year Rovers fan but never blinded to what's going on by blue tinted specs.

I agree, don't watch. I haven't watched a single interview yet. I can't bring myself to watch one, given the circumstances behind his appointment.

I know it won't matter to him, but I don't feel like I can get behind him at the minute. If he gets a couple of wins on the board and goes on to keep us up, I am sure I will feel differently, but at the minute, think his appointment was the final nail in the relegation coffin.

I heard his first interview. After that I concluded giving interviews wasn’t one of his strengths. After that interview I haven’t listened to another, he’s in the Mowbray class, he’d talk a glass eye to sleep.

First of all Waggott seemingly having him lined up and ready to parachute in, once JDT was gone. The appointment was very quick, so had to be lined up in my opinion. Also with Waggott seemingly stopping JDT pointing out the incompetence and lies being told (in particular the Maguire transfer and his  pre match gagging order) he obviously wanted someone who would paint nothing but positives in his media interviews. These are the exact circumstances I am talking about and I therefore want to see some evidence of the positives, rather than bluster and waffle, before I can bring myself to listen.

I am sure some people are happy to gobble up the tripe, but I can't bring myself to listen, as I am now convinced his appointment was the last piece in the relegation puzzle.

I SINCERELY hope he proves me wrong, but the evidence so far suggests I am right.

I was told by a client of mine, who is a journalist for one of the red tops, that he is very uncomfortable doing press interviews, so what you say there, does appear to be spot on.

I made an exception for JDT as I found him extremely articulate and charismatic, him aside I’ve hardly listened to a manager (or player) since Ke*n - platitudes and cliches on repeat, no thanks.

He was honest too and I struggle to think of anyone else under these owners being honest and telling the fans, as it is.

I don't know if this was Waggott's appointment but given what GB has said repeatably about always a shortlist of replacements for JDT position and that GB presented these lists of different options to the board to decide who to appoint.

JDT clearly had a way out of the club before the QPR game and he was about to take it. I do wonder how long Rovers knew about the Sweden talks and I do think it would have been best to part ways last summer given what we know now

On Eustace, he isn't media savvy like JDT was or Allardyce was. Its probably a side of the job he doesn't like doing

He doesn't seem too 'savvy' in the arts of football management!

So just what is he 'savvy' at?

Think you'll continue to sing the praises of Eusless until he's gone (like you do with all Rovers' managers)!

IMO, a dud and worse than Coyle - at least we won some games with Coyle and he did have a promotion to the PL on his CV.  Just what the feck has Eusless achieved as a manager!?
