Personally I wouldn't have Brittain in my team on Saturday. He is a real weak (literally) link and in my view doesn't have the heart for a scrap. Having watched his marked improvement this season I would be promoting Leo Duru who has something about him. I know it would be a big ask of a young lad in a local derby but I have faith in him. He can also play in a four or a five.

Not only do I agree ref Brittain but Duru is assisting in the premier league on my football manager save and so can only be good in real life - that's how it works.. isn't it ?

A Mike Ferguson or an El Hadji Diouf would have destroyed Brittain for good - metaphorically eaten him, chewed him and then spat out the remains.  Our, IMO, big mouth and coward of a full back must consider himself most fortunate not to have encountered a Fergie or a Dioufy!

Millar may do that on Saturday

Last time we had a DoF we got relegated, and this time history is threatening to repeat itself.

A consultant masquerading as a Sporting Director whose wife was an agent.

What could go wrong eh, now we have an academy director running the entire football operation who recently let it out the bag that the inexperienced in English football head coach was advising him on all manner of things.

I'm sure it's supposed to be the other way around.

And surely the CEO should be guiding the DoF ?

Bloody circus this club, still.

If you think signings like Mola, Leo, Hirst, Ennis, Telalovic, Koumetio, Fleck, Chrisene and Ayari, to name but a few, are 'decent enough' then I don't know what football planet you live on.

IMO, Broughton has made one stand out signing (SS), three or four average ones (Hyam, Tronstad, Siggy) and the rest have been virtually useless.  Is it any wonder Broughton has gone into hiding after another shambolic window?  If matters are 'out of his control' he should feckin 'man up' and walk and there would be more respect for him.

Spot on Mercer.

I'd put Siggy in the useless bracket. I know he's got a few goals to his name but he hides out on the wing where he offers no attacking threat and absolutely hates the physical stuff. I'll never forget the game at Millwall where he ran around whingeing to the ref about being elbowed for about an hour before Tomasson dragged him off.

And his running style is like a chicken with a banger (ne for the old folks) up his derriere. Makes me laugh

Also wore a snood in training as a hat to let his ponytail spill over the top.  Shocking

Maybe now reverted back to Agent Boro Fan and using the well established agent+ agent=%share to find garbage without troubling the out of his depth DoF

He was fine against Stoke, but B'ham was concerningly bad.

As in, I genuinely think having me at LB would have been an improvement.

I am sure I'm not in a minority expecting our season to not improve in the foreseeable. We need to avoid going into a tailspin after that needlessly pathetic performance on Tuesday,  and man up for the trip to the grim and desolate wasteland visible from Tockholes.

Can't see anything to put a smile on our faces to be honest. Would love it if we could get a good result, but not holding my breath.

Nobbers 2 Rovers Nillington Smythe.

Balls. Needed.

I don't wish to alarm anyone but when Eustace took over Brum he won 1 game in his first 7. He needs to hit the ground running a lot quicker here.

Preston will definitely fancy a win and ita hard to see past one after the other night.

Was just about to write the same thing. Definitely into the poor bracket. After his initial impact he's done absolutely naff all for a while now.

That man Broughton has much to be sorry for - I think his signings on the whole are minging,  SS clearly good, Hyam average and the rest a crock of the proverbial.  Indefensible.

Factor in the feck ups with O'Brien, Brierley and Macguire and there is no case whatsoever, IMO, for his defence.

Pears, Carter, Pickering, JRC, Dolan, Hedges and Gallagher are still cast iron first team choices when fit, and no doubt Buckley or Garrett will join that list over the remainder of the season. That's without having Travis here(another fiasco).

We're still massively dependent on the players who were already here, I dread to think where we'd be if Broughton didn't have those foundations to rely on.

The recruitment has overall been poor.

But Trondstad is clearly one of the best performers this season. Did not cost us anything.

why would you put McFadzean on the left at the age of 37 years old? Surely you would to play Wharton or Hyam there?

Based on Chrisene being poor and O’Riordan coming in to replace him, with Scott Wharton missing last time (I’ve since seen he’s back), McFadz and Hyam either side, O’Riordan likely the more mobile of the three to carry it out through the middle, the strength of Millar on the left and his crosses in, I’d like McFadz to have a better chance of challenging for the crosses, which he would have being in the opposite side.

It’s moot if Wharton is back, as the back three picks itself, but those were my thoughts. Their right side isn’t as much of a source of joy for them as their left, basically.

If Fleck isnt fit until the international break, it makes the signing totally pointless. McFadzean (37 this month, hadnt played in 2 or 3 months) and Hedges (out with a serious injury for 4 months) both are set for their third game in a week. Surely Fleck can do an hour.

You can’t delegate responsibility, the Punatics have that

You can, and that's always been the underlying problem.

The Rao's hire useless goons, (Agnew, Shelfy, Singh, Senior, Waggott, Broughton etc), and then intervene directly whenever it suits, which makes a bad situation even worse.

They had the right people in situ when they bought the club, but chose to vandalize it beyond repair.

The right people wouldn't do what Venkys wanted them to do.

And why weren't you fired...?

(😉)

I bet we don't even have the cashflow to fire anyone until the end of the season (hence all the apparent haggling over JDT's exit)...

It could make for a strange game on Saturday, even though PNE have had a few wins if you look at their stats they tend to have minor possession and barely any shots on goal, yet convert the ones they do. They seem to be good at taking a battering then knicking one or two on the break (bit like they did to us at Ewood).

If we both just play to clear our lines for 90mins it could be one of the dullest games in a long time!
