Well yeah, I agree we need that at the very least, but that wasn’t my question.

So I’ll ask it again:

What makes you think that we will, just out of interest?

I hope we do, but nothing that’s happened in recent times suggests we will make that many signings, nor does the manager himself?

We made 7 summer signings and 6 January signings last season.

Eustace isn't going to go out tell everyone we want how many signings or how much we got. He is very cagey with the media and keep himself level headed every media interview

What we need in my opinion. Given the players leaving either after their contract ends or loan ends..

We do need 7 or 8 good players, but....... it's as likely as me winning the grand national by just running without a horse. We are talking about the Rao family and Steve Waggott here.

I don’t know why everyone is so pessimistic. In the Chicken Chokers we trust ! If we move quick we may be able to hijack Mbappe’s move to Real Madrid.

Isn’t it time somebody restarted the ” Optimism “ thread ?

They're strangling the life out of this club.

I just don't get it 'cos it's an expensive thing for them to do. Is it pure spite cos someone threw a snowball at them? £200m and counting.

In which case, we should perhaps try to make only 3-4 better quality signings and otherwise try some of the more ‘ready’ youth players?

Personally I’m more than ready to give Gent, Vale, and possibly Duru a proper chance in preseason, and use funds on a quality GK, Striker, and Winger.

Out of interest, what makes you think we won’t sign 7/8 players, bearing in mind we’ve signed 5, 6 and 7 players respectively for the last 3 summers?

I think, all things told, new manager, FFP now not really a problem, Swag and his ego back at the wheel plus the inevitable SS sale and the obvious gaps in the squad, that 7/8 signings is a real possibility….what we actually spend in fees etc is another question entirely.

The numbers say they can prob spend £7-10m. Wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest if we sold SS, took another slab of cash for AW, plus the Raya money and spent £1m on fees, a few frees and loans!

Brett Baker (coming from Brighton) and our pressing need for a GK might see us move for 32yo Mathew Ryan? Arsenal had him for a season after a lengthy spell at Brighton. Since had individual seasons at Real Sociedad, Copenhagen, and now OOC from AZ Alkmaar this summer after 13 clean sheets in 28 games.

Would prefer that type of move to someone like Ruddy.

Some other suggestions (not wedded to any):

Josh Onomah 27yo, w/o a club since last year, always thought he was reasonably rated?

Lloyd Kelly OOC CB at Bournemouth? Or another look at James Hill?

v.Unlikely but McGuire, Oli McBurnie, Che Adams, Chris Wood all OOC too?

They've also a giant of a keeper called Sherpen who's 6ft 7 and has 7 clean sheets in 12 games in Austria this year.  As well as the Swansea keeper I think

By having better forwards than we’ve got now. Szmodics was a  1 man band last season.

I think one of the players said that Eustace puts a lot of emphasis on keeping clean sheets. We won’t need to score many to get results. It won’t be pretty under Eustace if the last few months are anything to go by, but it might be effective.

We hardly created any chances in many of the matches under Eustace, but yes I do agree with you about having better forwards.

I imagine anyone remotely in their prime, age wise, from the Prem would be massively out of our budget and likely very few would take the sort of pay cut required for us to sign them. £30k a week is nothing for prem clubs to pay reserve players.

I’d say this is what we are doing when we sign players with regards to players who’s contracts are coming to an end at other clubs.

He’s not played in the prem since 2021. Since played in La Liga, Danish Superliga, and Eredivise.

Weird point though, considering we signed 7 players last summer and 6 the year before though mate.

Completely understand if you were questioning us spending the £7-10m we need to get us back on track. There’s absolutely no evidence in previous behaviour that this is likely.

I’d suggest we’d be odds on to sign between 5-8 players, based on recent history.

There'll be 3 or 4 loans as usual then i wouldn't be surprised to see the perms be a few older Brum cast offs on decent wage 12 month contracts.

Then there'll be the inevitable 500k signing from Crewe or somewhere so 6 or 7 signings is a real possibility although what they actually are in terms of improving the squad is anybody's guess.

Vale not good enough. Gent deffo. Duru maybe.

I've posted plenty of quality potential signings suggestions recently. All reasonable names

Why tho?

Kelly off to Newcastle from media reports.

Wood is regularly starter for Forest in the PL

Adams, his wages out of reach ad off to Wolves on a free transfer

McGuire we can get for now that why we sent someone to get sort a fee and contract for him

Ruddy looked like he should have retired a year ago when he played at Ewood. Avoid.

God it really is going to be a desperate summer of shite brought in and high priced tickets again isn't it.

Pass.

Followed by the incompetent Waggott not renewing player contracts and under-monetising everything about the club... How he's still got a job I don't know.

At a competent club a decent gaffer backed by a competent board with a dash of ambition would find a better keeper with a bit more pedigree and pay him, hell it even happened here once with TK.

However non of the above applies now it's not the way things are done therefore no chance they'll replace Pears.  One good season next season and someone might shell out a million or two for an English keeper that's what they'll hang their hat on, another off the production line to pay the bills.

With all that in mind Ruddy coming in as experienced back up to work with Pears and Leo going on loan wouldn't be the worst shout.

You wouldn't want it costing 10/15 grand a week though.

What wouldnt be underwhelming?

The club being run by owners with a slight interest and bit of ambition to do more than tread water?

Would a 30 year old out of contract Peterborough sub get you excited?

Would you agree that your previous statement that the owners never refuse to sign a cheque was misguided?

1. We wont sign an ambitious, modern DoF - we will get someone who says 'yes sir' to Waggott, just like Eustace

2. Not sure I would trust Eustace to either identify talent properly or do a decent job convincing anyone to join rovers. If he thinks out lot have been 'fantastic' since he came in, his standards may be lower than ours

2. With both JDT and Broughton leaving our knowledge of the international/European markets probably also leaves. We will go back to the TM/Waggott policy of domestic crap only

Where can I buy my season ticket?!!
