Over/under on how many goals/points Pears is going to cost us vs Derby, Norwich, Oxford and Burnley before we get this (any?) proper GK bought/loaned or involved? Quote

BankEnd Rover Posted August 7, 2024 Posted August 7, 2024 Absolute shocker about De Lange!! Always too good to be true despite brining in 30mill…Owners and the board are an utter shambles!! Quote

Miss out on the GK you really want because you can't find neutral ground in a week of negotiations over £400,000 difference when you've made (or will make) £40m on outgoings in 6 months - or 1% of your net income. Waggott and Suhail out. Edited August 7, 2024 by Angry_Pirate 11 Quote
Bethnal Posted August 7, 2024 Posted August 7, 2024 Remember, guys… they never refuse to sign a check. Quote
robbojohnno Posted August 7, 2024 Posted August 7, 2024 Appalling but not surprising. Improved communication? Give over, we need to get these owners and all the clingers on far and away from this club to end this nightmare. Quote
BankEnd Rover Posted August 7, 2024 Posted August 7, 2024 It’s exactly why we won’t be getting players like Dembele, we are on the hunt for Loans and frees. Quote
TheRevAshton Posted August 7, 2024 Posted August 7, 2024 I mean... are we even surprised at this point? If there's a seven-figure fee involved, it simply won't happen. 2 Quote
Gamst Posted August 7, 2024 Posted August 7, 2024 Sounds like the lad wanted to come initially but we dragged our feet over a few hundred K and a better offer came in. I really thought the asking price was very reasonable. He’s going to a good club and it shows he is probably very decent if Marseille are interested. You’d think if you are in a position where a player you really rate is willing to sign and they are not far apart on the asking price, then you move heaven and earth to get it over the line. If the player is actually decent then a bigger team will always come in. Complete mismanagement as usual. 3 Quote

Sort of skewing the data to match your anger there. I'm not overjoyed with the current way the club is being run, but if you're really going to argue that we are no better off at this stage of the transfer window than last year, you're just being obstinate. I prefer comparing the current squad to the squad from 14 years ago. No skewing of data, no arguments but plenty of justified anger. Quote
TommyRovers Posted August 7, 2024 Posted August 7, 2024 He's off to be the number two at Marseille while their current number 2 is out injured. Some ambition from the lad. 1 Quote
Angry_Pirate Posted August 7, 2024 Posted August 7, 2024 (edited) September 2nd: "We tried to sign a renowned GK from abroad for good money, but he ultimately chose to sign for a European football chasing team in France instead. This happens in football.... anyway, have you met our new 19yr old loanee from (PL Club), we think you'll like this one better, he should provide good backup competition to Aynsley! We'll keep our powder dry until January." Edited August 7, 2024 by Angry_Pirate 2 Quote
jim mk2 Posted August 7, 2024 Posted August 7, 2024 De Lange fallen through because Rovers were haggling over a few hundred thousand quid? Steve Waggott strikes again Pears is still No 1 then, with all that entails 3 Quote

Polky Posted August 7, 2024 Posted August 7, 2024 It’s laughable when this should have been wrapped up after haggling over such a small fee (in football terms). Marseille have agreed €2m + bonuses so it was always going to be higher than our bid. 1 Quote

Reportedly, we now have differences of £500k and £400k respectively. In the overall scheme of things, these amounts are chicken shit. Our season kicks-off in 3 days and JE, our group and the individuals themselves need clarity and to know where they stand. When you are so close you just find a feckin way through accepting very rarely will you get the price you want for a sale and, conversely, you end up paying a bit for a purchase. On 06/08/2024 at 09:39, Mercer said: No one is saying we immediately accept £500k less for SS or pay £400k more for de Lange - it's a negotiation but my goodness it always seems at a snail's pace by Rovers. Where two parties are minded to do a deal, as they are in these two transfers, then you sit down, hammer it out and get the feckin deal closed. With SS - clearly, the lad wants to go and almost certainly wont play for us again. Not only is this unsettling for the lad but for the group as a whole. He needs to be out the building. With de Lange, all protracted negotiations do is alert other potential suitors and you risk losing the player. Who can ever forget us losing Roy Keane to United because Rovers' offices were closed on a Sunday!!!!!!!!!!!!! Snooze and you lose - it's that simple. 5 minutes ago, Gamst said: Sounds like the lad wanted to come initially but we dragged our feet over a few hundred K and a better offer came in. CambridgeRover Posted August 7, 2024 Posted August 7, 2024 Right so which freebie / loaner will be looking for now Quote
Ruaney Posted August 7, 2024 Posted August 7, 2024 I remember the good old days when we used to put value in to having a top drawer keeper. Not under these bozo’s though Quote

London blue Posted August 7, 2024 Posted August 7, 2024 Rovers saw the opportunity of a loan or freebie and put the brakes on. OM took advantage. Shame. Quote
BRFC4EVA Posted August 7, 2024 Posted August 7, 2024 No surprise whatsoever. As I said, unless they are doing media with the club waving our shirt around, it's best not to get your hopes up. Quote
