Torgeir
Why is Eustace saying Ohashi isn't match fit? He last played in the J-league on July 27 and was a regular for Sanfreece Hiroshima.

Their season started in February I believe, so it can't be end of season burnout.

Ruddy or Begovic will be our options…Awful transfers both of them. They where waggots and suhails only targets. The foreign lads for fees where most likely just to placate Eustace and/or the more gullible fans Edited August 8, 2024 by Armchair supporter supremo

Probably thinks we're stupid enough not to know that the JP season is in full swing and most likely the most match fit player of the entire squad. More bollcoks imo. Fraserkirky
Surely Yuki will be fitter than the rest. Makes no sense. Should start on Friday.
Ossydave
For all the shambolic things at the club, you'd think the facilities and tech available at Brockhall are a lot more capable of analysing a players match fitness than a few people on here making assumptions 🤣 I'm sure he's itching to use Yuki himself but he should know when he's ready using the info provided to him.

I got the impression from that interview that JE was frustrated overall that he hasn’t had time to integrate new players into preseason. He started Gueye and brought on Ohashi at half time against Stockport with Vale an unused sub. Neither seemed to struggle physically, he’s referring to their understanding of how he wants to play. The fitness issues pertain to Batth and Mcfadz. Id be shocked if one of Gueye or Ohashi didn’t start. Wouldn’t be surprised to see Weimann and Batth on the bench.

Just smokescreen bollocks imo, you're never going to land a player bidding 800k E when the original asking price is 2m. That said Ipswich are similarly pissing us about by making a derogatory offer for SS but the difference there is they are probably taking a flyer in the hope the 20/08 hearing goes against the Club and we'll be forced to accept. We don't know what Gueye is like until we've seen him play. The opinions of those Spanish fans who have seen him play that you are completely discounting might turn out to be correct.
rob_of_the_rovers
Seems like Drommel had a decent time at Twente but then a pretty awful first season at PSV which lead to him becoming backup for the past two seasons
RoversSG
11 hours ago, Mercer said: A sign of the times - how Rovers treat loyal supporters and partners: “THE END OF AN ERA” For 35 years, Peter Jackson the Jeweller have presented a watch to the Man of the Match at every Blackburn Rovers home game. This year however, and with just four days until the start of the season, the club informed Peter Jackson that his services will no longer be required because they have found a sponsor who will pay “a significant sum” for the Man of the Match sponsorship. Fans of Blackburn Rovers will remember the Man of the Match award being presented to such illustrious figures as Alan Shearer, Chris Sutton, Brad Friedel, Colin Hendry, Tugay, David Dunn and too many other distinguished players to mention. As a great advocate for women’s football, Peter Jackson the Jeweller have also presented awards to the Player of the Match at every Blackburn Rovers Women’s home game for the last three years and have offered their continued support to the women’s team. Managing Director Peter Jackson said “ When I first approached Blackburn Rovers, the then commercial Manager and Rovers Legend Ken Beamish proudly showed me the Riverside Stand which had just been built. The Man of the Match was given a crate of beer and sent on their way. Jack Walker was investing huge amounts in the stadium and the Club and it was time for a change.” He continued “ Jack’s dream came true and the rest is history. Blackburn Rovers rose to the very top and then sunk to several low points during which most of their sponsors abandoned them, but we never gave up on the Club and have been there for them through the good times and the bad”. Over the course of 35 years, Peter Jackson the Jeweller have presented around 800 ‘Man of the Match’ awards and over 100 trophies at the End of Season awards ceremony, but more important is the thousands of Rovers fans and staff that have been welcomed to their store in the Blackburn Shopping Centre. “It has truly been an honour and a privilege” said Peter “to share so many wonderful occasions with fans, staff and players of the Club. We have been there for weddings, birthdays, anniversaries and graduations and have had the pleasure of supplying engagement rings to couples whose parents bought their engagement rings from us.” “I am disappointed and sad to see that money now takes precedence over relationships, community and friendship, but Peter Jackson the Jeweller wishes Blackburn Rovers every success and we will always be there to offer the people of Blackburn and beyond our watches and jewellery service.” Peter has asked anyone who wishes to make their view known to write to Steve Waggott, Chief Executive at Blackburn Rovers FC or email enquiries@rovers.co.uk Peter Jackson can also be contacted at peter@peterjackson.co.uk Tells you more about what the current ownership mindset is better than anything else. I wouldn't want to be an employee of theirs. Will most likely be asked to leave after working 30 years for them cause they can save a bit by hiring a fresh grad.

Torgeir
Match fitness is whether he's ready physically, and he's coming in from more than midway through a season in the J-League he should be. We've done ourselves a disfavour by not making sure Szmodics is match fit, that's for sure. Wonder who is the brains behind that...

Mid way through a season which has a completely different pace and level to it. No doubt it won’t take him long but I’m pretty sure he won’t be championship match fit just yet
