They're having a laugh if they're chasing frees and sub £500k players. GK Daniel Iversen LB No idea Wingers Ryo Germain and a PL loan? CM Punt on Puerta from Kusen? Oh, look a pig just flew by. Mainly curious about the scale of transfer fees paid and wage commitments vs wages off the books (some cases may have included partly paying off contracts, so may overstate the savings there) and transfer fees received. So, ~£36m net transfer income (fair bit subject to Wharton being sold again. I've assumed we've secured another £2m on top of the £18m initial fee) and maybe a net reduction of £1m in forward-looking wage 'commitments' (trickier to interpret, particularly with respect to offloading players with long-term deals left). Probably some truth in Waggott's claim that our wages have gone up since last year after bringing in a few vets on (one year!) decent wages deals, but obviously net transfer fees are the elephant in the room! edit: updated as had an error in my first spreadsheet! Really good work and it graphically explains the mess these owners have put us in through their own fault.

Dodgy keeper with a dodgy defence in front of him. No pace. No goals. I don't share the optimism about the new lads. They've played two games against two poor sides. You get what you pay for. Selling our best players and not adequately reinvesting is going to cost us. You get what you pay for - never really fully got behind this saying in football terms. Some players just need a chance Seamus coleman vardy mahrez gestede to name off the top of my head not for one second comparing these lads to the above and I’m well aware there have been plenty of duds but to write them off after two games is very silly based on their price tag

davulsukur
It was all a bit too positive recently. Obviously the club have to kick us in the nuts before we start dreaming of anything other than a relegation battle.

Gordon Ottershaw
Last week the club was "messing Szmodics about" and risking being stuck with a player that wants to leave. This week we're having a meltdown because Szmodics is moving to a Premier League club..........as if nothing like that has never happened before 😵💫

M_B
2 hours ago, Jimmy612 said: As it stands the squad is undeniably weaker than last season. Over £40m incoming, and (being very generous) £1.5m outgoing, not to mention more of our top earners off the books. Whilst Ohashi and Gueye look like they will be useful additions, it's a huge risk to expect them to play a full season and score, say 15-20 each. Unless we see some substantial investment in the next two weeks (I'm talking £5m - 7m minimum), then the owners should hang their heads in shame. Successful clubs sell players at the right time before re-investing a portion of that income to ensure that their club is 1. competitive in the league, and 2. have saleable assets in 12 - 24 months' time. I expect us to stagnate and tread water, plugging the remaining gaps with cheap punts, old has-beens and loans. Whilst I acknowledge and am initially impressed by the signings of Ohashi and Gueye, they needed to be additions to an already depleted squad, not replacements for anyone who left this summer, let alone our talisman. We need 5 more, and a minimum of 3 should be cash purchases who improve our squad and have potential to be the next double figure sale. Anything else is inexcusable. I'll probably be branded a Venkys stooge for this, but I'm not necessarily bothered how much the club spends, I'm more interested that they've done due diligence over whoever comes in. Gestede's signings so far give hope that we're now looking in the right places, and at the right levels. Most important of all, any new keeper signing has to be absolutely spot on.
