As @KentExile said, he likely was paid off. Even if we only pay £5k a week it is still a saving for them.

You say there was a few quid knocking around. I know Fleck didnt cost a fee but Venkys blocked any permanent Maguire deal because they wouldnt spend.

Totally different dynamic sanctioning a multi million pound deal over several years with a hefty lump sum down payment to taking over a 6 month contract at 25k pwk with no lump sums involved.

Fits way easier on the books when you've already loaned a guy out on half that which was already in the budget.

It was said that Rovers just took over Flecks contract until the end of last season so it could very well hold water he was on big money here.

He's cost a few hundred grand at least for 6 months and it was always destined to be a stupid money wasting gamble.

If Waggots wage depended on signings in a similar way the DoFs did you can be sure he wouldn't have gone anywhere near him.

No accountability though and a convenient head to roll below him.

And a nice fat commission for the disgusting troll.

Nail on head, Waggot perhaps did the deal between his Sheff U counterpart and the player himself meaning a large agent commission avoided which gets the thumbs up from Pune, meanwhile a nice few grand smoother for himself.

Theoretically of course.

True, but I dont think there is any chance we got anywhere near to the figures you mention. Suppose we will never know.

Well no, the figures banded about were 35k pwk i think 🤑

Think we can all agree it was a really stupid bit of business and at least with GB he got money back to cover his cock up with Ennis.

This one smacks of someone pocketing a few quid on an easy to do deal that only ever had a 1 in 50 chance of being worthwhile.

Don't see the fuss about Gestede but we are a desperate bunch.

Lad came here fir a short spell, did well, left for a big move for big money and didn't cope with the step up then faded away so it's not like he's a legend or anything and what can he bring to the table ?

He's essentially just on a work experience placement and tbh he'd be more use putting his boots on again, if Fleck can get a chance so can he !

Travis wanted to leave that we deffo know.

Do we even save money on Travis given we made 6 signings and Buckley returned from his loan spell?

We'd have been paying absolute peanuts to the three loanees - they were all on their second chance that season and we took them on because we were desperate for warm bodies.

If John Fleck gets given a contract then so should I.

He might have spent some of it on Cole for Newcastle.

Of all the 'mentors' to choose!

IMO, makes very little sense to shadow and 'learn' from Waggott (still chuckling) unless Rovers were the only club to provide him with an opportunity to get some 'work experience' in that area.

Think of it as learning what not to do as a Chief Exec.

Of course not by why are we entertaining a 32 year old who’s been Injured more in the last 2 years than not…Then you look at the wage he’ll be on.

Because he is Waggott's mate / client

Easily done.

Talk about a player not kicking on for 5 years. He's got a bit physically stronger, but he still dallies on the ball and makes the wrong choice with it.

He's a very talented player, but he's not going to make it at this level now.

Our Academy is there for one thing only..to nurture talent for other Clubs and flog to the highest bidder asap.

Nah, it keeps the club alive too.

Without Lenihan, Nyambe, A. Wharton, S. Wharton, Travis, Buckley, Leonard, Garrett, Raya et al we'd have been sunk long ago.

We've been badly mismanaged for over a decade, but the staff down at Brockhall keep on churning out Championship calibre players.

Don't worry we'll get to keep the Garrets, Buckleys etc on 5 year contracts trying to keep us in the Championship !
