It didn’t work out for Leo. We’ve done really well to get our money back on him as I was expecting him to have to be released as he’d been so poor to date.

I have no issue at all with Pears staying as number two. He’s not a starter at this level but no issue at all with him as back up. We need to spend the Leo money on a replacement keeper to come in as first choice. Is Ryan still available? Use the £850k to offer him a package to come as our starting keeper.

Players under contract cannot just be released.  An agreement (on the club paying the player the amount of monies remaining on his contract) has to be made.  Even if there was a will to do so on both sides, Rovers simply do not have the funds to be flushing away on such things

Due to the Eustace connection and money we've brought in, there's been a sort of expectancy that we'll take advantage of Birmingham's relegation, and raid them of their best players...

However, with the way the window is shaping up, I find it far more likely that they'll actually be the ones raiding us of our players 😅

Good luck to the lad! I do think there could be a player in there tbh, but it simply hasn't worked out here - it happens sometimes!

It normally takes an absolute age for us to finalise deals for incoming players... will that be the case with this outgoing sale? Absolutely not. Outgoings are always wrapped up in no time.

I saw a twitter post by a Danish journalist who stated that "a deal had been in place for a long time" re: Wahlstedt

We do seem to have little issues in organising outgoings and even keeping to our word by agreeing a deal for a later date and sticking to it.

Always the lazy expectation that, I don't think we'll sign anyone from Birmingham.

I do wonder, if this is the case, then is he going now (him being sold in July rather than June) for a similar reason that numerous Prem clubs were buying and selling youngster for silly prices in the last week, as July is a new accounting window

Albeit on a much smaller scale

Wahlstedt, just like Ennis before him was a cheap punt that failed. In my view he simply wasn't good enough and cost us a lot of points with his individual errors although he wasn't alone in this. If we can recoup the money we spent on him that's good but as ever the money needs to be spent on a replacement as none of the back up keepers are good/experienced enough in my opinion. My issue is I don't think the money will be spent rather than that used to keep the club going for a few weeks.

That 850k will just cover another few weeks of wages, bills etc.

who knows? We might use that money to bring in Tim Krul or another keeper as replacement

Give over Chaddy, if you haven't worked this lot out 14 years in then I don't suppose you ever will.

Only if they want to stay in League One

You all said we wouldn't spend 2 years ago but we did..we sign 3 quality players permanently

But Venky's were willing (or able) to put money into the club to fund it 2 years ago.

Now they haven't put any money in for 9 months and we are clearly selling our best players to pay the bills.

The landscape is very different.

Some people think they still can send funds, but I think it is now becoming very clear that there is very little in the pot and even a free transfer is unlikely, due to agents fees and wages.

Venkys had to buy the STC and that allow us to spend that money.

Yes they haven't put money in recently. Whether they can now, I don't know. We see shortly. Some say they can and some say no.
