Ryo Germain playing tonight so deal not close …. Rovers gone back into shell …last weeks action must have tired them out …..

Awww poor Steve and Suhail. Must be time to retire then if you can't handle 2 days of "honest" work.

Over/under on how many goals/points Pears is going to cost us vs Derby, Norwich, Oxford and Burnley before we get this (any?) proper GK bought/loaned or involved?

If Nixon is linking us to another keeper it tells me that De Lange isn't going to happen.

As above, obvious this one was too good to be true.

Sounds like the lad wanted to come initially but we dragged our feet over a few hundred K and a better offer came in. I really thought the asking price was very reasonable. He’s going to a good club and it shows he is probably very decent if Marseille are interested. You’d think if you are in a position where a player you really rate is willing to sign and they are not far apart on the asking price, then you move heaven and earth to get it over the line. If the player is actually decent then a bigger team will always come in. Complete mismanagement as usual.

People are comparing last seasons squad including loans against our current squad before the loan market kicks off? Sort of skewing the data to match your anger there.

I'm not overjoyed with the current way the club is being run, but if you're really going to argue that we are no better off at this stage of the transfer window than last year, you're just being obstinate.

I prefer comparing the current squad to the squad from 14 years ago. No skewing of data, no arguments but plenty of justified anger.

September 2nd: "We tried to sign a renowned GK from abroad for good money, but he ultimately chose to sign for a European football chasing team in France instead. This happens in football.... anyway, have you met our new 19yr old loanee from (PL Club), we think you'll like this one better, he should provide good backup competition to Aynsley! We'll keep our powder dry until January."

De Lange fallen through because Rovers were haggling over a few hundred thousand quid?

Steve Waggott strikes again

Pears is still No 1 then, with all that entails

It’s laughable when this should have been wrapped up after haggling over such a small fee (in football terms).

Marseille have agreed €2m + bonuses so it was always going to be higher than our bid.

Remember, guys… they never refuse to sign a check.

Aye but the checkbook is in India under Madam's mattress and no-one is allowed in there, not even Mr Madam these days

Think it's time for Rovers to stop pissing about with SS and de Lange deals.

Reportedly, we now have differences of £500k and £400k respectively.  In the overall scheme of things, these amounts are chicken shit.  Our season kicks-off in 3 days and JE, our group and the individuals themselves need clarity and to know where they stand.  When you are so close you just find a feckin way through accepting very rarely will you get the price you want for a sale and, conversely, you end up paying a bit for a purchase.

No one is saying we immediately accept £500k less for SS or pay £400k more for de Lange - it's a negotiation but my goodness it always seems at a snail's pace by Rovers.  Where two parties are minded to do a deal, as they are in these two transfers, then you sit down, hammer it out and get the feckin deal closed.

With SS - clearly, the lad wants to go and almost certainly wont play for us again.  Not only is this unsettling for the lad but for the group as a whole.  He needs to be out the building.

With de Lange, all protracted negotiations do is alert other potential suitors and you risk losing the player.  Who can ever forget us losing Roy Keane to United because Rovers' offices were closed on a Sunday!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Snooze and you lose - it's that simple.

He's off to be the number two at Marseille while their current number 2 is out injured. Some ambition from the lad.

Joining any club over Rovers is the more ambitious move.

I remember the good old days when we used to put value in to having a top drawer keeper.

Not under these bozo’s though

It's happened once - when we signed Kaminski. Other than that struggling to think of another occasion in the last 10 years where we have gone out and signed a proven quality goalkeeper.
