If a woman you fancied flirted with you for the best part of two months (first made contact with McGuire early December) invited you to her house, fed you a great meal, and described all the fantastic things she was about to do with you in bedroom, and then just as you’d got your kit off, she threw you out the door because ‘actually, my parents don’t want people like you here, so you’ll have to leave’…

Would you want to pursue a relationship with that woman 6 months later, or would you tell her to fuck off?

And flew half way around the world to her house

I imagine he's also a bit pissed that our arsing around denied him a move to Sheffield Wednesday and seeing what they did for those last few months. Even if it was only a loan he would have been in a winning side and put himself in the shop window.

If we were a big enough fish I'm sure McGuire would be prepared to forgive us for what happened in January.

The only chance we've got, (if we're still interested), is if we're the only dance at the disco.

Have we become the ‘5 to 2er’??

Because it shows it was a dream move for money only when he does that stupid money gesture

The money gesture was clearly tongue in cheek, but yeah, the financial benefit of coming to England would be a big one. Just as it would be if someone offered to considerably multiply your wage (and give you a platform to potentially better yourself) and then a move fell through for unacceptable reasons, you would be bitter.

I think it showed his character and it’s not one I want in the trenches of a relegation battle

see szmodics for comparison. Do you think he would act in such a way?

Yes.

All footballers go for money. We all do. Go on any construction site and everybody is bragging about being on a quid more than the next man. It is no different for footballers

If a team had come in for Szmodics in January and offered him £10k a week more, he'd have been gone

Greg Cunningham has been released by PNE, worth a punt on a free transfer.

Will add some experience and competition for Pickering.

I would love to see Batty or Gent have a chance next season, with at least one being loaned out.

Football doesn’t work like that though. Besides, who could blame him being annoyed with us, for messing him about?

McGuire is absolutely not the issue here and never will be.

He seems quite oustpoken so yes, if say a Prem club had gone to sign him, then pulled out and arranged a loan, then messed up the paperwork in such an unprofessional and for other clubs (not ours sadly) unprecedented way, denying him a massive pay increase and the chance of a life time. He probably would.

No, Sammi will turn down all the offers that come in to double or treble his wages and stay at good old Rovers. Remember who told you first.

Gone, yes. Bad mouthed the club on his way out and stated he was joining his new club purely because they were offering him more money? Unlikely.

I think he's absolutely finished at this level - and was last season too.

Will have to drop down to L1 and be a talisman off the bench for someone if he wants to continue playing professional football.

Heard the name Ryan Gould from a friend... Anyone else heard this?

There’s a Ryan Gauld who plays in Canada, was once dubbed the Scottish Messi. I remember him leaving a Scottish club at a young age to play for Sp Lisbon or similar, but didn’t know he’d ended up in Toronto till I just looked it up. Think he’s a winger
