Victor Johansson, the Rotherham keeper has signed for Stoke. Would have been a really good No 1 for us, a massive upgrade.

Just never going to happen with our budget…Stoke are turd but have always had money to spend. Bizzare as to how low they’ve fallen, with the correct manager they will progress in now time.

No sure what more evidence they really need...

Rudy    1 mill to 5 mill

Rhodes    8 mill to 11 mill

AA     3 mill to 12 mill

TK  500k to 2.5 mill

The examples are all there but the new model seems to be bring through and sell youth whilst investing regular 500k's in other young players.

They’ll probably point out we made as much profit on Wharton as all your examples added together.

In doing so they’d be failing to realise how he was the exception and not the rule.

You're right, but I've been told that a GK is way down the priority list for this summer.

Which, having witnessed both Pears and Walhstedt consistently prove their lack of readiness/ability/consistency at this level throughout last season, is incredibly worrying.

We need a proper GK.

What is the priority list then?

do we not want an experience keeper signing?

Contact who's fed me info has said GK is well below ST, LB, RW and I think another position (without going back to check the message).

But JE is supposed to be happy enough with what he has.

Alongside a goalscorer, GK is top of the pops for me.

I dont get how any contact would have been specifically told the exact order of potential signings.

Seems like educated guesses and to me probably logical ones based not on what we need but on where we are thinnest in the squad.

So he actually wants a new keeper tho if they are on the list.

For me, The main 2 priority positions we need signing is striker(maybe 2) and keeper then after that the priorities after that is right winger, centre back and left back

If its John Eustace then fair enough.

Im not convinced that the owners will authorise a new goalkeeper signing with one of the current clowns having signed a new contract last summer and the other clown being our only real money spent last summer. They dont seem the type of owners to care too much how bad they are.

Yep they took over nearly 14 years ago and the last real academy asset in money terms was just being primed to sell so that's a long wait until the next one after Adam.

I suppose our 2nd goalscorer will be Gally? What could go wrong?

What was the other position?

Hogan was Eustace’s striker when brum came to Ewood a couple of seasons ago. He played really well. I’ve always thought he was decent. No idea on his age or injury record but might be one we’re interested in.

He's 32 and scored less goals than Sam Gallagher last season.

Avoid.

It's more the fact that he's on £15k+ a week that's the problem.

Not really, it's more the fact he's one of the worst strikers ever to pull on the blue and white halves.

The decision to turn down £2m from Ipswich for him and now trigger his contract extension must rank amongst the very worst decisions Venkys have made.

Unless of course we've only done the latter to claw some money back on him. I doubt we'll be so lucky though. You can't succeed carrying passengers like Gallagher. If that's not obvious to the powers that be by now it never will be. It's as if they do these things to deliberately spite us.

I don't rate Gallagher at all and wouldn't have renewed his contract but can we park this "should have sold to Ipswich" stuff. We literally finished a huge chunk of the season with him as our only striker.

We sold a player for £20m and invested zero back into the team, I have no confidence Gallagher's exit would have benefitted the team in any way whatsoever.

Gallagher's January exit would have just gone into the bills jar.

His seasonal goal tallies are 12, 7, 8, 9, 8 and 5 this season having missed a decent chunk. So 49 in 6 seasons.

His goal record is very underwhelming but compare him to some of the strikers weve had under Venkys. Brown, Telalovic, Ennis, Varney, Kazim Richards, Dom Samuel, Hirst, Goodwillie, Edinho. Hes not one of the worst.
